Dear Meher Center Family & Friends,
Loving greetings to you all. This is the time of year when we remember the passing of Mehera, closest disciple of Meher Baba, whom He called His beloved. It was on May 20, 1989 that Mehera passed away at Meherazad, the place where she and a few close disciples lived with Meher Baba for the last years of His life.
The lines below were written just after her death by Mani, Meher Baba’s sister. They are lyrics from a longer song that reflect the atmosphere around Meherazad at that time: joyous, loving, with an intensity of longing filled by His presence. Mani refers to Mehera leaving her body as a ‘birthday,’ in the same way Baba referred to union with God as Real Birth.
Bless us, sweet Mehera, that we may be with Him
Every step of our remaining way.
In all that we do and say and think
May we remember Him night and day
To the glory of love
Let all hearts sing
Happy Birthday, Mehera
Queen of Meher King
Gentle breeze of His mercy
Song of His silence pure
Beat of His universal heart
Help us to love Him more, ever more.
In Baba’s love and service,
Buz Connor
