COVID Update:
February 11, 2022
Dear SMCS Parents,

Thank you so much for your continued support. Nurse Diaz and I appreciate all your help keeping our students and staff safe at school and learning in person.

For the week of February 7, 2022, we have had seven new lab-confirmed COVID cases on campus. All individuals with close contact/exposure were notified.

Because we have seen a decline in COVID cases in our school community and in the Houston area, SMCS will be lifting the required mask mandate for students starting on Monday, February 14. We ask that if you would like your child to wear a mask at school that you send them to school with a mask on.

Our COVID protocols have been updated to reflect this change. Click here to see our updated COVID protocols.

As part of our safety protocols, Nurse Diaz and I ask that you continue to watch for symptoms of COVID-19 in your children.

Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:

  • Temperature of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.
  • Sore throat
  • New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline).
  • Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
  • New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.

If any member of the St. Michael Catholic School community begins experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician.

Thank you again for your continued support. Please stay safe and healthy.

Blessings,
Dr. Cox and Nurse Diaz
