JOIN US: FVSD Going Gold on February 18th for International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day!
Go Gold Image
One of the greatest parts of this community is our willingness to join hands and support each other during challenging times.  To this end, we are once again partnering with local families to raise awareness and funding for pediatric cancer research.

On February 18th, please join the entire FVSD Family as we Go Gold for International Childhood Cancer Day.   We are kindly asking everyone to wear yellow or gold to school on February 18th to show your support for the students and families who have experienced the damaging impact of childhood cancer.  In addition, we hope that everyone in the FVSD community will consider donating $1 on February 18th to combat this disease through the support of childhood cancer research.  All proceeds will be donated directly to the Irvine-based Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.  Each school will be sending out additional details regarding how you can participate.   For more information, visit  internationalchildhoodcancerday.org .  A copy of the flyer sent via Peachjar is also available here.
HIGHLIGHT: FV Schools Foundation Hosts Third Annual State of Our Schools Breakfast
State Of Our Schools 2020
On Friday, January 17, the Fountain Valley Schools Foundation invited our community to join us for the Third Annual State of Our Schools breakfast.  Held in the Board Room at the FVSD District Office, over 100 attendees enjoyed a presentation from our Superintendent Mark Johnson and a performance by the Fulton Middle School Choir.  We are grateful to the FV Schools Foundation for their support of our District and their commitment to our students, staff and programs.  The State of Our Schools breakfast gave us all the opportunity to connect with current and future partners in our community and share so many of the great successes of our district.  A wonderful morning indeed!  For more information on the Fountain Valley Schools Foundation and their support of our programs, please visit their website
SPOTLIGHT: Board Celebrates Students and Parent Volunteers from Courreges School
Courreges Board Recognition 2020

At their regular meeting on January 9th, the Board of Trustees was honored to celebrate some outstanding students and parent volunteers from Courreges School.  The meeting opened with Girl Scout Troop 4167 leading the Pledge of Allegiance.  Following this, the Board joined the Courreges staff and our community in thanking Megan Irvine and Bessie Kozinski for their never ending commitment to our Cougars.  All of our Courreges students and staff benefit from the dedication of these two amazing women!

In addition, the Board of Trustees celebrated the great accomplishments of six fantastic students including:  Poppy Moreau (K), Jake Yano (1st), Cora Ly (2nd), Ben Rimdzius (3rd), Dimitri Dieu (4th), and Hannah Uribe (5th).  It was a packed room filled with family and staff there to honor these students for their hard work and exemplary accomplishments!  For more photos from the evening, please visit our Facebook page.

This is the FVSD Way:  Fun Facts from FVSD
Mr. Hanna Quote
As we celebrate the rich history of our District as a part of #TheFVSDWay, we are honored to share some of the interesting facts and events from our nearly 150 years.

On July 19, 1967, the Fountain Valley School District was noted in the United States Congressional Record by Honorable Richard T. Hanna of California in the House of Representatives.  The District was highlighted for its innovation, leadership, buildings, instructional programs, coordinating teachers, support personnel and its materials center.  As Mr. Hanna notes the District's "daring and important innovation," stating that "...FV is showing all of us how was can do in an improved and more relevant manner the job of educating our youngsters...We have surveyed their plants, tasted of the spirit of those involved and witnessed the results in the performance of their pupils.  It moves us to say to the other districts in California: Go you and do likewise."  More than three decades later, we are confident that Mr. Hanna would still find our District daring and innovative, as we are blessed to have teachers dedicated to teaching and learning; students eager and engaged in the classroom; and a community that supports our schools and programs.  More than thirty years later, that is still  #TheFVSDWay!
TAG IT:  Join Us in Celebrating The FVSD Way!
The FVSD Way
As noted above, our theme for 2019-20 is The FVSD Way!  We have taken the time to study our history, analyze the present and continue planning for the futre.   We hope that you will join us in documenting how you celebrate "The FVSD Way" by capturing the amazing moments in our schools and tagging your photos on social media #TheFVSDWay  #FVSDDriven #WeHeartFVSD.
