Phases II and III have launched!

Give NOW and expand beautification
You’ll look great and do good – support Reimagine Magnolia Village. Thank you, Vixen Collection

Have you purchased your Magnolia tote bags at Vixen Collection? The beautiful, sturdy totes come in two sizes and a portion of the proceeds is donated to Phases II & III of the Reimagine Magnolia Village project. The purchase of the attractive and useful tote not only supports expanding the beautification of Magnolia Village, it supports fair trade wages, profit dividends, and a retirement fund for the Bangladesh mothers who make the bags. Win-win-win. Support Vixen Collection, Phases II and III of the Reimagine Magnolia Village project, and the Bangladesh Project of Apolis-Global Village.

Thank you to donors – invest in our neighborhood, support local businesses

Our donors are amazing. As fundraising continues for Phase II & III, our donors appreciate how the streetscape improvements of Phase I have been instrumental in helping our local small businesses during the global pandemic. Installing of the decorative poles in mid-March literally happened – almost to the day – right at the time the city, state, and nation started shutting down due to the COVID-19 virus. Throughout the Spring of 2020, Phase I of continued due to the generosity of donors like many of YOU. By June, the Magnolia Village sidewalks became an incredibly inviting place to enjoy the unique ambiance of the Village.

What our donors couldn’t have known was how vitally important the outdoor tables and new benches would be to our local merchants and the neighborhood. The streetscape improvements along McGraw, between 32nd and 33rd Avenues, provided a welcomed chance for Magnolia’s small businesses and shoppers/diners alike to safely enjoy the Village during a time when restaurants needed outdoor dining options and customers required outdoor spacing.

The Reimagine Magnolia Village project is now actively fundraising for Phases II and III to expand the streetscape improvements from 33rd to 35th Avenues along McGraw. Your donation ensures that more of the Village’s restaurants, coffee shops and other small businesses enjoy the same streetscape improvements as Phase I. The result? Even more opportunities for folks to gather outside, dine, and enjoy each other at a safe distance, in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Once Phases II and III are complete, we will work on Phases IV and V and the entire Village will be a beautiful, engaging place for neighbors and visitors alike.

If you haven’t invested yet in Phases II and III beautification – now is the time! If 10,000 families each donated $30 to create a beautiful, warm, and safe Magnolia Village, we not only support our local merchants, we will enjoy more outdoor dining and do our part to keep each other healthy!

Thank you to volunteers who make an impact – Kim Rooney, Landscape Architect

A shout out of appreciation to Kim Rooney, a Magnolia-based landscape architect who recommended the new placement of the green benches. It was Kim, with her savvy and expertise, who suggested that the benches be positioned so folks can easily look up and down the sidewalks, taking in all of the merchants who do business along West McGraw. We have heard nothing but kudos for the new placement. We are also excited to share that due to the generosity of generous donors, even more benches will feature memorial plaques.

If interested in creating your own memorial bench, please contact Cheryl at Cheryl.aaml@gmail.com or 206-390-8698.
It takes OUR village … donor advocacy in action

Chris and Georgia Backman are Magnolia natives who love their neighborhood. We extend a big thank you for an amazing demonstration of paying it forward and giving back to the community. The Backman’s shared the Reimagine Magnolia Village project with the Magnolia Lutheran Church. The church sent out a message of support to the parishioners and in turn, the project received donations based on this call to action to help advance Phases II & III of Magnolia Village beautification. We are immensely grateful to both the Backman’s and to the Magnolia Lutheran Church. What a great example of the Backman's generous support and how our community pulls together to help make our corner of the city a great place to live, work and thrive.
