THE ADVENTURES OF DASH & DOT
Our seasonal staff members, Dash and Dot our Downtown Elves on the Shelf, are excited to resume their tradition of visiting new places and catching up with their favorite places throughout Downtown Syracuse! Follow along as they highlight all of the activities (virtual and in person) that Downtown Syracuse has to offer during the holidays. Their mission is to spread holiday cheer and spotlight meaningful gift options found in retail shops, restaurants, hotels and cultural institutions. Each day, they'll visit a new place to help provide you with suggestions on ways you can safely enjoy Downtown Syracuse this holiday season. Follow their adventures on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
After a two-week quarantine following their arrival from the North Pole, the elves got the green light to visit Downtown Syracuse businesses with undetected COVID-19 tests at The Oncenter.
On #FamilyFunFriday, Dash and Dot met a new friend, Bowzer. The turtle is one of the stars of the Nature's Ninjas exhibit, which you can check out at the Museum of Science and Technology (The MOST).
#FamilyFunFriday continued with a trip to Cathy's Cookie Kitchen, where Dot took a nap on a bed of marshmallows.
Keeping with tradition, Dash wanted to be sure to check out the City of Syracuse's Holiday Tree, up close in Clinton Square (He took a stroll over to the tree while Dot napped!). The elves were both excited to tune in for the virtual Tree Lighting.
Small Business Saturday brought the elves to Mixed Methods, where they helped model a mask policy to ensure a safe shopping experience for all. They were amazed at all of the gift options, marveling at mirrors, socks, glass, cards and more!
The #ShopLocal theme continued with a visit to Gypsy Freedom on Sunday. Dot had so much fun trying out different looks. The sustainable clothing sure is comfy. She's going to take advantage of the private personal shopping experience, and make an appointment to return!
