What:  Diabetes Education - Great River Medical Center offers a four-week group diabetes class every month. The group diabetes class is for people who are newly diagnosed, making a change in treatment, or having complications or concerns. A physician referral for diabetes education is required. A family member or friend is encouraged to attend at no additional cost.

Heritage Trust Grants Available
What: The Heritage Trust grant is available for exterior historic preservation, restoration, or rehabilitation projects within the city of Burlington for properties that are at least 50 years old. It can provide up to $5,000 in 1:1 matching funds. The organization's grant committee reviews applications in February and August; the first round deadline is February 15. The grant application can be downloaded  here.

What:  Angie McCall was named Employee of the Month at Great River Medical Center. She is a patient service associate in the Cardiovascular Care Unit.  McCall took a patient home to Mount Pleasant after the patient was discharged. The patient didn't have any family or friends who could take her, and she would have had to pay a $75 taxi fee.
