AE receives grant for Research Experience for Teachers

A $600K, three-year grant from the National Science Foundation -- given to the AE department in partnership with the College of Education's Center for Science and the Schools -- will expose high school students and their teachers to STEM through a program called the Building Education Research Experience for Teachers Site.  >>

A $57K grant from the Leonhard Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Education allowed the AE department to revitalize AE 124, first-year seminar, to include hands-on activities like redesigning Beaver Stadium and exploring full-scale construction robots.  >>

Jim Freihaut, professor of architectural engineering, researches microgrids, or independent and localized hybrid power systems that incorporate combined heat and power systems and electrical components of energy.  >>
AE students secure historic win at AEI design competition  

AE undergraduate students earned first place in all five core categories at the 2019 Architectural Engineering Institute Student Design Competition, including the top honor for building integration for their green, collaborative performing arts center design.  >>
Alumna gifts $50K endowed scholarship to architectural engineering

The Karen and Charles Sweeney Architectural Engineering Scholarship will be awarded to one full-time AE undergraduate student per academic year, with special preference given to students who participate in programs that promote equity and inclusion.  >>
