Cory Booker’s plans to help Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Multicultural Serving Institutions by providing financial help for STEM and Pell Grant loans as part of a broader focus on their futures.

’s Digital Media Tools advanced media class have been presenting their semester projects this week and last. Some students created and disseminated email newsletters, and others did a project for an outside client involving social media, analytics or an interactive digital tool.
Mallorie McBride
revamped the Instagram account for Square Peg Marketing and Branding, tracked analytics and developed posting recommendations for the company.
Nolan Brey
and
Savanna Smith
added digital accessibility features to the University Daily Kansan website for photos and videos.
Andrew Rosenthal
used Knightlab software to create drone and 360-degree photos of the Washburn athletic facilities for the Washburn University website.
Katie Scott
did a social media analytics analysis for radio station 106.5 and presented her findings to the station.
Conner Walter
worked with Crunch Fitness to improve its social media presence. Other students did social media or analytics projects for the Kansan, Chalk magazine and Rock Chalk Video.

The weeklong seminar allows them to take a closer look at the German media landscape and gain a deeper awareness of the political, economic and cultural environment in Germany and Europe.

Diversity analysis of the University Daily Kansan presentation
|
Through funding from the Center for Undergraduate Research, students in J534: Diversity in Media
partnered with the Kansan this semester to conduct a diversity analysis of the student paper through content analysis, interviews and focus groups. They will present their findings at a poster session from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Ballroom of the Kansas Union. They also will present to the provost and deans at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 12 in the Big 12 Room of the Kansas Union. All are invited to support the students at either session.

Korva Coleman Diversity in Journalism Internship
|
Applications are now open for the
Korva Coleman
Diversity in Journalism Internship, which is geared toward training college students of color to be part of the next generation of public radio reporters and newscasters. The Coleman intern will get an immersive, hands-on learning experience at KMUW, Wichita’s award-winning National Public Radio station, as well as mentoring from NPR newscaster Coleman. Deadline is Dec. 17.
