WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

CALIFORNIA TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN

California is expanding Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and districts will soon be hiring more transitional kindergarten teachers.  Learn more about this initiative in this article. Currently, the requirement to teach transitional kindergarten is 24 units of early childhood coursework, plus a Multiple Subject credential. Your BA in Early Childhood Studies will provide you with the 24 units and a strong base for teaching in a TK classroom, and you can earn your Multiple Subject Credential in only one year after you have your BA. To learn more about the SSU Multiple Subject Credential Program please visit the SSU Multiple Subject Credential Program website, attend an information session, or chat with the friendly staff in the School of Education Student Services office.
