We are far too familiar with the discrimination and injustice that impacts our clients and often leads them to seek our help. The current pandemic, tumultuous economy, and continued incidents of racial injustice are adding many additional layers of burden on vulnerable populations in New York City. CAMBA is working tirelessly to help build an inclusive New York City for all its communities. Our annual benefit, CAMBA Night Out, raises funds to support this work.

CAMBA Night Out will highlight our work and honor a wonderful partner west elm and their CEO Alex Bellos. Guests will have complete access to our unique and interactive virtual event platform where they will be able to engage with other guests.  You can purchase tickets online and if you can't join us, please make a donation.

Our auction is also online and open for bids. See below for just a few of the fabulous items on offer!

Make Thanksgiving Brighter for Hungry Families
While most of us are planning our own holiday meals, many New Yorkers are struggling to put a simple meal on the table. During the pandemic it is estimated that nearly 1.2 million New Yorkers face hunger, including one in five New York City children. Won't you start your own giving season today by helping us provide 500 Holiday Meals for 500 Families? Your gift will help provide the necessary fixings to make this Thanksgiving dinner special for struggling New Yorkers. Please donate today to our efforts.

Giving Back to School
Thanks to Gary Tai at Empire Blue who has made "back to school" a lot nicer for children at the Flagstone Family Center. Staff in photos are holding some of the 120 backpacks, and Liberty Dental Gifts Bags donated to the family shelter. Our thanks also to Nazia Ahmed at Serve A Meal who delivered 146 meals to Broadway House on October 19th.
Learning to Work, Speaking for Themselves
The Learning to Work Program faces potential funding reductions and CAMBA and other organizations have advocated for continued full funding. In addition to letters, emails and calls to our elected officials, the LTW team has joined with partner agencies to keep the conversation front and center, including participating in highly successful virtual Town Hall meetings and rallies. On October 14, CAMBA co-hosted the Manhattan and Brooklyn Town Hall Rallies with staff, students and principals speaking from various LTW programs. Also joining in the meeting to lend their support was Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Assembly Member Nick Perry. A special shout out to Chaunta Clayton, LTW Program Director at South Shore YABC, who co-hosted the Brooklyn rally reaching 685 people.

Going Green at CAMBA Gardens II
CAMBA Gardens II partnered with The Horticultural Society at CGII throughout the pandemic by cultivating the on-site garden by planting fruit and vegetable seeds beginning in April 2020. In July, a group of tenants began safely participating in gardening, and it was well received. The tenants (photos) take care of the garden and harvest when the fruit and vegetables are ripe for the picking. The Horticultural staff, along with CAMBA staff, join in preparing bags for other tenants who are unable to participate in the weekly gardening project.
CAMBA Housing Ventures Op-ed
In an Op-ed in Smart Cities Diveby, Executive Vice President David Rowe for CAMBA/CAMBA Housing Ventures, “Housing is healthcare. It’s time for Congress to shore up LIHTC[smartcitiesdive.com],” argues that creating affordable housing is vital for the nationwide health response to the Covid-19 pandemic. On behalf of CAMBA/CHV, David calls for Congress to enact a minimum 4 percent Housing Credit rate to finance critical affordable housing development.
Lean On Me
Roslyn Campbell
