Remote Learning Hub
Crosstown is in conversations with MPS about becoming a remote learning hub for students in need. There are obvious challenges to this and Pastor John and Angie are working through logistics.
However, this request is a compliment to Crosstown. As the schools are trying to help students they expressed their thankfulness in knowing that if they asked Crosstown would partner with them. They appreciate that Crosstown "walks the walk" and cares deeply for their students.
We ask that you continue to pray for our partnership with the schools and specifically for how to assist students with distance learning.

Nokomis East Neighborhood Association
NENA is has been working hard to support our neighborhood through this time with food shelves, mask distribution, renter advocacy, and so much more. Crosstown has had the privilege to partner with them in a number of ways over the years. Currently NENA is facing a 40% funding reduction from the Minneapolis City Council. Please read this letter from NENA.

Justice! Message Series in October
Our nation is publicly wrestling with racism and injustice in a way we have not seen since the 1960's. I find it fascinating that Ta Nehisi-Coates, an atheist, speaks in the language of faith when he calls for "a spiritual reckoning that will lead to a national renewal." As we find ourselves in this unique cultural "moment," I've set apart the next three weeks to focus on God's heart for justice. Rather than an appendage to the Gospel, justice stands front and center in God's call to live as Jesus' people.
This series will culminate in a challenge for us to gather at 38th & Chicago in Minneapolis on Sunday, October 18 @ 11 AM. This pilgrimage to the site of George Floyd's murder will be a time for us to pray and lament as we seek the healing that only Jesus Christ can provide.
-Pastor John

Supporting Mission & Discipleship
We are thankful for your faithful giving throughout this pandemic. Crosstown has continued to financially support all 17 individual missionaries at our promised level despite navigating our own decline in income. We are committed to standing steadfast with these individuals. We have received a number of thank you notes from missionaries for our continued commitment as some churches have been unable to maintain their support in this season. Crosstown has also continued to financially support three of our church plant partners: Destino Covenant, Eden Community Covenant, and Epiphany Covenant.

Stay Up-to-date with Children's Ministry
With COVID there have been many changes to ministry. In the spring we focused on offering age-specific Zoom devotionals with Polly and video children's messages. For the fall we are working on providing you with a better virtual ministry home. In the Crosstown app you will soon find a special Children's Ministry tab. This will contain your event calendar, children's message videos, age-specific devotionals, links to Zoom meets, and more.
We would love to be able to notify you when there are new events and content. Please turn on your push notifications to match what content you would like to receive. For example, if you have a preschooler then turn on the "Pre-K" group.
We are excited to partner with you, the parents, in discipling your children through the pandemic. Links to download the app are at the end of the newsletter. Contact Kristi with tech questions and Polly with ministry questions.

Update from Tom Ritter
Tom was awarded the 2020 Lillehei Scholarship.
"I’m entering my third year of medical school (out of four years total). I finished the didactic portion of school in June, and I’m excited to finally be in a clinical setting interacting with patients. Although I’m only a few months in, I’m having the time of my life. The days are long and challenging, but I have never experienced anything quite like the blend of science and personal interaction. When I left Crosstown, I knew that the road ahead was going to be challenging. It has certainly lived up to the hype – and perhaps exceeded it in some ways – but I’ve never doubted that this was what I was meant to do.
My position as board chairperson of the student-run free clinic for uninsured patients in Milwaukee finished up in January. I am continuing to contribute in an advisory capacity including an anti-racism committee where we hope to make impactful changes to make our clinic more inclusive and welcoming for our patients and volunteers.
The support Crosstown has continued to show me is incredible, and I’m fortunate to call Crosstown my home away from home. I continue to pray for Crosstown and I hope you’re healthy during this difficult time."
