5 pm at the New Hill parking area on the ATT

6 pm at Harris Lake County Park
5:30 pm at the New Hill parking area on the ATT

All park users should be off the trails/course 15 minutes before park closing time.
Restrooms at all parks lock 15 minutes before park closing.

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. Come out to the parks to start your healthy new year off right!
The main park restrooms at HLCP are OPEN and almost renovated. With just a few more items to work on, they may close intermittently over the next few weeks. There are alternate facilities in the parking area near the Loblolly Shelter. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Winter is a great time to get outside and enjoy the natural world. Hone your observation skills as we discover nature's wonders on a leisurely hike along the trails.

Saturday, Jan. 11
9-11 am; Free for ages 12 and up
Winter is a special time to observe seasonal visitors such as the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Ruby-crowned Kinglet and Common Loon. Birder extraordinaire Larry Zoller will help us identify the birds we see and hear as we hike to different areas of the park.

Tuesday, Jan. 14
11 am-noon; Free for ages 1-6 with accompanying adult
It's that time of year for some animals to prepare for winter. We will read Time to Sleep by Denise Fleming and learn what different animals do to make it through the cold months

Bring us your live Christmas Trees
through January 26!



Recycle your Christmas tree to mulch trails at Wake County Parks! When you go for a walk you'll get to smell that fresh evergreen  smell all over again!

Drop off your undecorated Christmas trees at the following 
Wake County Parks 7 days a week 8 a.m. until sunset beginning 
Dec. 26 and running through Jan. 26.
(parks are closed on New Year's Day)

Hunting season is open. Park visitors may want to wear bright colors while on the trails at both Harris Lake County Park and the American Tobacco Trail.

Hunting is allowed on nearby state-managed game lands at both parks and waterfowl hunting is permitted from the Shearon Harris Reservoir. Hunting is not allowed inside the park at Harris or from the trail on the ATT. Contact the NC Wildlife Resources Commission to report wildlife violations at 919-707-0040.
