Theological Reflections on Nationhood
December 4, 11, 18
Bishop Thomas E. Breidenthal explores the history of nationalism and the dangers it presents to our society today. In his second presentation, he moves on to the twentieth century struggle between fascism and democracy, with particular attention to the work and witness of German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer (
Dec. 11). The bishop will wrap up the series on international law and its Biblical roots (
Dec 18).
The evening will begin with Evening Prayer in Centennial Chapel at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30. The program begins at 7 p.m. and will be followed by Compline at 8 p.m. All three programs will be
live streamed so that all in the diocese can participate.

Epiphany Retreat at Transfiguration Spirituality Center
|
|
|
Saturday, January 11, 2020
An epiphany retreat provides an to practice mindful remembrance... remembering that we’re on a journey, remembering where we are on that journey (and assessing where we may have gotten lost, confused, or even displaced for a while for legitimate and important reason), remembering that we do not walk alone, and remembering that we have all kinds of tools and resources to help us navigate and to strengthen us as we go.
This retreat can also help rekindle our sensitivities and purpose... in the cold of winter and when we are unsure of our immediate or long-term goals and aspirations, we may need more inner resolve and inspiration to foster a stronger imagination for our future.

Saturday, December 14
1 p.m.
Christmas holidays don’t feel bright and cheery for everyone. Living in the midst of grief – the death of a loved one, picking up the pieces after a divorce or separation, coping with job loss, living with illness, or other circumstances that mute our experience of deep joy – these things can make holiday festivities painful for many people. With this in mind, we offer “Blue Christmas: A Service for Grieving, Praying, and Healing.”
Our worship will be candle lit, with space for silence and reflection, with music and meditations for honoring our grief and holding out hope for healing and wholeness.

Press releases from Office of Public Affairs
Episcopal Relief & Development is supporting the Anglican Diocesan Development and Relief Organization (ADDRO) after severe flooding in northern Ghana earlier this fall.
In September and October of 2019, the Upper East Region of Ghana and most of northern Ghana experienced torrential rains, causing the Bagre Dam to overflow. Widespread flooding impacted farmland and homes, displacing over 26,000 people and destroying their livelihoods.
