Our school is committed to the concepts of sustainable living on a healthy planet. There are a number of ways that WWS already works towards environmental sustainability, but there is more to do! We have a few big initiatives in the works that will have a significant impact on our sustainability efforts:
- We have an agreement in place for the installation of solar panels on our school roof within the next few months.
- We were chosen to participate in a composting pilot program run by the Montgomery Count Department of Environmental Protection, Recycling and Resource Management Division. Our 3rd graders will still manage the composting that we are able to do onsite at the school, but this program will allow us to compost the rest of our food scraps. It's encouraging that the DEP recognized us a strong candidate to help them with their pilot program.
- A group of High School students has formed the Green and Natural Alternative Representatives (GNAR) environmental club. This dedicated group is currently auditing our school waste, collecting data so they can better understand our current state and help the school reduce consumption/waste and increase recycling.
- If you are interested in getting involved with sustainability efforts for the school community, please email Gogi Kalka (HS Science Teacher).

Looking for Morning and After School Childcare
We just welcomed a new addition to our family over the holiday break. We are looking for a loving and joyful person to provide some extra help in the weekday mornings and after school. The duties would be helping care for our soon-to-be 3 year old and newborn (e.g., helping with afternoon activities at home and getting ready for school in the morning). We live a few minutes from WWS. If you have any recommendations or know of anyone who would be interested, we would be grateful.
