Our Client:
Our client is a German designer and manufacturer of small home appliances/devices. With a large manufacturing factory in China, along with two other international sites, they service all large players in the industry. 
Title:                   Senior Global Category Manager
Location:            Shenzhen, Guangdong, China
Report to:          Global Procurement Director
 
·        Responsible for defining and driving the strategic approach for electro-mechanical commodities category globally - working cross functionally on these categories to drive the end to end value chain.
·        Examining the entire category spend, how the organization uses the products and services within the category, market place and individual suppliers. Challenging what has gone before, and seeking out and implement break though opportunities that create significant value for the organization.
·        Value might take the form of leveraging dramatic reductions in purchase price but it could equally be about reducing the whole lifecycle cost or total cost of ownership, mitigating price increases in a rising market, reducing supply chain risk, improving effectiveness and efficiency or securing increased collaboration and innovation from the supply chain to help build our brand equity.
·        Once category strategies are defined you will be responsible for cascading this through the tactical procurement teams.
 
Roles and responsibilities
·        You will fully understand the companies, mission goals and values. Setting category portfolio strategy for the global commodities, and local supply of parts and components to meet the vision.
·        You will lead a cross-functional project team to seek out cost improvements or value added on your respective commodities
·        You will define the key stakeholders required to define strategy, and engagement of those stakeholders, functions and individuals across the business to make it successful.
·        You will manage and support the project team’s delivery of improving value, with cost analysis and project management support – clearly defining the time plan and delivery to that time plan
·        You will lead on process for initiation, insight, innovation, implementation and improvement. Develop and maintain expert knowledge of respective global supply markets, competitors and product innovations.
·        You will drive the gathering of market information and data globally and carry out analytics to determine actions
·        You will produce a clearly documented strategy document that layouts all considerations and the decision-making process to the final strategy over the short and long term action plans
·        Responsible for leading a small team to implement category or commodity strategies to optimize business efficiency.
·        Build strong relationship with customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
·        Build strong partnerships with suppliers to improve their contribution to the company.
 
Requirements/skills
   Proven working experience in an International Category Manager in the SDA market, ideally experience in molding, die casting, stamping, finishes etc. for 15 Years
   Strong leadership and managerial capabilities, strong and effective decision-making capacity
   Good experience of leading a team, coaching, developing, KPI setting
   Strong program/project management skills, motivational skills and understanding of team dynamics, highly effective collaboration skills
   Good facilitation skills, both as a leader of and participant in meetings
   Good listening skills, management meeting skills and presentation skills
   Effective at interpreting complex and multiple sources of information to make decisions. Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers and reporting. Experience in collecting and analyzing data. To that end, be very detailed, organized
   Improves processes to eliminate non-value adding activities
   Effective at influencing others, inc. executive management
        Good knowledge of the local category market place and procurement best practices
   Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, Tooling and mold shop facilities.
   Knowledge of procurement techniques as well as dexterity in “reading” the market.
   Proven track work of working collaboratively with other departments and being able to develop and manage supplier partnerships
   Talent in negotiations and networking and the ability to explore and develop new supply chain networks
   Good knowledge of supplier or third party management software and quality and test programs
   BSc degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
   Familiar with category management and mapping tools like: SWOT, PESTLE and Porters 5 forces
   Excellent communication in English written and Oral.
