Club Tournaments

Our Women's doubles tournament registration is officially closed. We will reach our to registrants with schedules and tournament rules shortly. Thanks for signing up!

The next tournament on the horizon is Men’s Doubles: July 16 to 27 (Sign-up by: July 13, 6 PM)

To Register: Login to Jegysoft, then, under the tab of the tournament you wish to register for, click the "register for tournament" button and follow prompts. Members can also call (613-749-5494) or send us an email (info@rltennis.ca) to register for one or more tournaments.

David Clendenning started to organize matches for members over 25 years ago and has kept at it with the exception of postings overseas with foreign affairs. The group has has always met Thursdays, first at 5:30 when the majority of participants were working, now at 3 pm with many attendees enjoying retirement.

David now has more players that ever showing up, a remarkable feat. Players enjoy the games, comradeship and even chip in to help organize. Thank you to David Clendenning, Richard Martineau, Paul Bernier & Gill Kirkwood who go out of their way to make RLTC a special place to be by organizing match-play on a weekly basis. You are all very much appreciated!

Court Care Updates

Next week, on Monday, July 12th, all of our clay courts will be shut down between 7-10AM for maintenance. Chris Smith & his team from Canada Courts will be in to tune things up. The courts will be unavailable for booking during this time.

A reminder that our hard courts are being repaired and will be closed from July 26th for a period of approximately 2 weeks depending on weather. Thank you for your understanding as we take time to improve our clubs most important assets!

Don't forget that our current court conditions can be seen on twitter, or from the rolling twitter feed on our website.

BBQ Update

Thank you to Scott Hannant who returned as our grill master for last Wednesdays BBQ. Our clubhouse staff including Idhrak Azard, Alex Hnatovski, Marlow Stainfiield and even board member Jordan Samaroo, all pitched in to make for a memorable evening. With many last minute additions, we ran out of some side dishes sooner that we thought and some members had to wait a little longer than expected. We thank you for your patience during our first BBQ in over 1.5 years!

Next time, we're going back to buffet styled service where we'll be welcoming people to serve themselves table by table. As our garlic buttered Naan side dish was shelved, we look forward to offering that in the weeks to come.

We're excited to announce that next week's BBQ will be hosted by one of our newest staff members, Tia Sharara and her family. They will be designing a Lebanese themed meal sure to please! We will relay specifics this coming Monday with options to sign up. Stay tuned!

Adult Clinics Starting July 5th

“B” Clinic (Advanced/ Intermediate)

Level: NTRP 3.0 - 4.0

MAX 8 players, MINIMUM 6 players

Cardio Tennis

Level: All levels

Coaches: Zhenya / Dan

MAX 8 players, MINIMUM 6 players

Dates: 4 week session (see calendar)

Tuesday 6:30 - 7:30PM & Sunday 10 - 11AM

Cardio Tennis is a fun, fast-paced group activity featuring drills to give players of all abilities an amazing workout.

• Program includes a live ball warm-up, high intensity feeding drills and point play

•Equipment like ladders, cones & markers used to introduce tennis specific footwork

• A great way to get in shape and sharpen your tennis skills!

MAX 8 players, MINIMUM 6 players

Dates: 4 week session (see calendar above)

Wednesday 12:00 - 1:00PM

This clinic will focus on a weekly stroke which will include groundstrokes (forehand/backhand), volleys, serves/returns, drop shots, lobs and more.

• Participants will go through a series of progressions with volume build muscle memory

• Game situations and/or open play will be introduced to highlight the skill and maximize volume in realistic scenarios

Women’s Clinic

Level: NTRP 3.0 - 4.0

Coaches: Zhenya & Dan

MAX 8 players, MINIMUM 6 players

Dates: July 14-16, September 15-17

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9 -10:30AM

A comprehensive clinic for women that are looking to develop match play skills.

• In-depth tactical analysis: shot-selection, defense-offence transition and movement.

• Advanced level singles/doubles strategies, communication and positioning.

• Emphasis in learning in a social, positive and engaging environment!

RLTC Summer Fun Camps (5-14 y.o)

What to expect:

Physical warm up & development, cooperative games, racket skill development
Breaking up into pods (red, orange, green/regulation)
Working on skills for each day (groundstrokes, volleys, overhead, serve, tactics, footwork)
Water/snack breaks to ensure proper hydration and high energy/focus
Game situations, rally games, technique stations
Match play with modified scoring for each court with plenty of rotations
On- and off-court activities which support physical literacy and athleticism
Learning to LOVE the game!

Summer Junior Competitive Camp (10-15 y.o)

Coaches: Zhenya & Dan

Ratio: 4:1

Monday-Friday 7-9AM

Dates:

Session A: July 5th-9th

Session B: July 19th-23rd

Session C: August 9th-13th

Session D: August 23rd-27th

Camp geared towards competitive/advanced juniors who play regularly in OTA/UTR events; looking for quality training, physical development and supervised play
On-court training includes physical development, shadow stroke training (technique), live ball drills, basket feeding, footwork and agility drills
4:1 ratio ensuring more individualized coaching and targeted feedback
Game situations and point play to develop overall awareness and good decision making
Advanced tactical training, including drills in all three zones of the court, offence-defense transition, and developing patterns of play
Developing a “weapon” (strength or dominant shot) and improving areas that need work
Video analysis, tournament, reports & prizes included.
