Happy New Decade! We first want to thank all of our local community for choosing Unity as your environmentally focused Design/Build team, Native plant/garden supply center and supplier of local, organically grown produce.

In 2020 Unity Church Hill Nursery is moving into native perennial, shrub and tree production and we are moving full steam ahead. We are committed to growing only native species using growing methods that will meet and exceed organic standards. To house this additional production, four new hoop houses will be constructed adjacent to our vegetable production field along Route 213, and they will be installed in January as long as the weather holds up for us. We will also install an additional covered greenhouse adjacent to our existing high tunnels for our native perennials and organically produced vegetable and herb plant production. The native trees, shrubs, perennials, herbs and vegetables plants we produce will be used by our Landscape Design Build company, and they will also be available to wholesale customers and our retail customers at Unity Church Hill Nursery. David Huntzberry joined team Unity in the fall of 2019 as our staff Ecologist and he will be working side by side with Theresa Mycek to carry out this transformation. In 2020, we will continue growing all that you've come to love along with some new additions. Seed catalogs have arrived and are full of possibilities. Is there something you'd like us to grow next year? We'd love to hear your suggestions.   Our produce is available at the nursery and Chestertown Natural Foods year round. Currently we have spinach, brussels sprouts, broccoli raab, g arlic, turmeric, ginger, sweet potatoes and potatoes. Supplies of freshly harvested produce are limited so please call ahead to check availability.

The Unity Landscape Design/Build team continues to stay very busy on a variety of projects from installing new driveways, clearing invasives from shoreline banks, cutting and remove Phragmites, native planting and restoration work, and much more. Lucas Lees and the shoreline construction team have recently finished the major construction on the Hambrooks living shoreline project in Cambridge, MD. The Hambrooks shoreline project was challenged by extreme high tides for a prolonged period through late Summer but with Lucas on top of the project and coordinating with Dave Wilson from R,C&D the project came together.   Lucas and the Unity Team will return in the Spring to coordinate the native plug planting.

In the upcoming year we will be highlighting the extraordinary team at Unity along with the public projects our teams are constructing. We welcome visitors to the nursery and to our Landscape design center year round so please stop in and to chat with our team.
