The most important thing about you and me is how we see God, for how we see God determines our relationship with God.  Join us and invite others to join us, for a 2-week worship series (Nov. 10 & 17) about how we see God, which, in turn determines how we see ourselves: God's holiness and God's love.

Reminder: set your clocks back one hour on the evening of Saturday, November 2. See ya at church for 10 am worship on Sunday!

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11
SAGES OLDER ADULT LUNCHEON
Who doesn't like lunch out with friends?  The second Monday of each month we gather at O'Charley's Restaurant on
Fields Ertel Rd at 12 noon.  Nick, our waiter, has fun with us too.

Please consider joining us on November 11 for good food and fun! Mark the date on your calendar!

PRAYERS
1 Corinthians 13:1 (NRSV )  If I speak in tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am but a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

Dear Jesus, Creator and Friend, Help us as we each strive to authentically love as you do.  May we not be noisy gongs, professing to love but carrying within us resentment and anger. We ask this in the name of our Savior and King.  Amen.

LET US PRAY AND GIVE THANKS
Paul writes many times in his many letters: " I remember you in my prayers at all times..."  Praying for one another is a very important part of our lives as followers of Christ.  For quite some time one of the individuals that has coordinated our church's efforts to be in prayer has been Sharon Frankart.  Sharon has helped coordinate our email prayer chain. Thank you Sharon for your ministry, for all the lives you have helped the MUMC family lift up in prayer!

Sharon, however, is handing over the coordination of our email prayer chain to Mary Ann Sanders.  The actual transition of coordination will be taking place in the coming weeks. Now and in the future you can submit any prayer requests by emailing them to [email protected] or simply calling the church office.

If you would like to be added to the prayer chain, so you can lift up your sisters and brothers in prayer, please contact the church office.  Our Prayer Chain has two ways of communicating prayer requests: email or phone.

CHRISTMAS CARD POST OFFICE
October left us on Halloween; It's November, and Thanksgiving will soon be here.

Christmas trees and decorations, wrapping paper and cards are already on the shelves in stores.

Each year to make it easier for you to send Christmas wishes to your MUMC friends, a mailbox and folders are set up on a table near the welcome desk. The table will be set up and ready to receive cards on December 1 - the first Sunday of Advent.

Folders A - Z will be in crates with individual family name folders. When you bring in your Christmas cards addressed to your MUMC friends using both first and last names (no street address necessary), place the cards in the mailbox or directly into the appropriate family folder.

Remember to check the folders for cards each time you come to church.

May you have a blessed Christmas!

I WAS JUST THINKING......
. . . about what takes place later this month - Thanksgiving.  Yes, believe it or not, it will not be long until it's time for turkey, dressing, and all the other yummy dishes that go with Thanksgiving!  (I'm getting hungry as I write these words.) Thinking about turkey also leads me to ask: Do you know what side of a turkey has the most feathers?  The outside!

While thinking about Thanksgiving, I just want to take this moment to express my thankfulness as your pastor.  I have been here at MUMC now for only four months, but in this time you have welcomed me, you have cared for me, you have shared with me, you have listened to me, and you have prayed for me.  I simply want to say thank you to the entire MUMC family for all that you have done over the past 4 months. You have made the transition of becoming your pastor wonderful. With great excitement and anticipation, I look forward to what lies ahead for us.

I also want to say thank you for your faithfulness in serving the Lord.  We have recently reformed the Church Board, to oversee the ministries and administrative duties of the church.  Your Board members are striving to give of themselves faithfully in leadership to their best abilities, and I'm confident of the MUMC family's support and care of the Board.  Individuals who have stepped up to take on new responsibilities to ensure specific ministries are taken care of. Others continue to give of themselves in ministry and service.

There are many reasons and many places in which to give thanks!  Paul even writes to the Colossians: So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.   (Colossians 2:6-7)

I thank you for being the Mason United Methodist Church.  I thank you for your faithfulness in Christ's name. Thank you for love, mercy, and support to all of God's children.  May each of us, give thanks not just because it's November, but because of the Christ Jesus in our lives!

In Christ's name,
Rev. Mark

CHRISTMAS CANTATA: WERE YOU THERE ON THAT CHRISTMAS NIGHT?

The Chancel Choir will present the Christmas Cantata "Were You There on That Christmas Night?" in worship on Sunday morning, December 15, during a combined 10 a.m. worship service in the Sanctuary.   How wonderful it will be to hear the choir of 24 singers present this beautiful cantata that threads together some familiar carols, some original melodies, and two more recent Christmas classics, (Michael W. Smith's "All Is Well", and Chris Rice's "Welcome to Our World"), with meaningful scriptural narration that tells the Christmas story.

AND - it is still not too late for YOU to add your voice to the cantata!  See Chris on Sunday after the Postlude, or send an email to her today. [email protected]

MISSIONS

To our Church Family....Thank you!

Thank you for helping other families who come to our church in need of food. Your continued help in supplying food for Christ's Cupboard has helped 24 families in September and 22 families in October. From October 1 to October 10 we had already given out 15 food boxes.
