Non Profit Technology Readiness Cohort Application Opens

Nonprofit Technology Readiness (NTR) is a six-month cohort program from NTEN, a nonprofit focused on the strategic and racially equitable use of technology. This NTR cohort will include 20 Network member agency staff from any department who want to gain new skills, build capacity for their team and organization, and receive dedicated coaching on their most urgent technology needs. The NTR cohort for the Network will focus specifically on organizations who are navigating the plans and implementation for virtual service and program delivery.

A Study of US Leaders in Jewish Life Today

NJHSA is pleased to invite CEO’s and Board Chairs of NJHSA US member agencies to join with other leaders of US Jewish organizations to participate in a new study of leaders in Jewish life today.

The study asks several key questions: Who are today's leaders – both lay and professional? How were they educated and how did Jewish education play a role in making them the leaders they are today?

The study also seeks to understand the role of non-Jewish professional and lay leaders. Lear more here.
Arthur Lerman Hired to Lead
JFCS of the Suncoast

JFCS of the Suncoast is pleased to announce the hiring of Arthur Lerman as their CEO. Lerman has served as the Interim CEO for the past six months. “Arthur has done an excellent job leading the organization as our Interim CEO”, said Dean Miller, Chair of the JFCS Board of Directors. “We were very impressed with the work Arthur accomplished. The Board went through a rigorous and comprehensive review of Arthur’s candidacy upon learning of his interest in the permanent position. NJHSA is excited to invite North American agencies to participate in the 2021 Leading Edge Employee Experience Survey, which will be offered at the end of April 2021. Learn more here.
The purpose of the survey is to give you insight into your employees' experiences at work, and to provide you with information and tools to help your agency become an even better place to work. The survey focuses on a wide range of topics including employee experience with their teams, leadership, and internal communication, among others. You will receive access to detailed reports that fully protect the confidentiality of your employees while revealing important themes about your workplace culture.

ADVOCACY
Biden-Harris Meeting
Last week 20 members of the NJHSA Advocacy Committee met with Aaron Keyak, Jewish Engagement Director for the Biden-Harris Transition Team. The group highlighted NJHSA policy priorities for the first 100 days including nutrition assistance, health and mental health care, and job creation, and discussed other pressing issues including vaccine distribution and the housing crisis. NJHSA is looking forward to working with the Biden-Harris administration to address the most pressing needs of member agencies and the clients they serve during the COVID-19 pandemic and as they recover from its health and economic impact.
Virtual Mission to Washington
Join JFNA for the first-ever national Jewish Virtual Mission to Washington. Communities across the US will virtually meet with members of the new administration and bi-partisan Congressional leaders to advocate for the priorities of the Jewish community. Participants will have the opportunity to fight antisemitism, ensure a strong U.S.-Israel relationship, make the case for government resources to keep communal institutions flourishing and provide for the vulnerable, such as Holocaust survivors. #JewishTogether and #VirtualMissionDC
The mission is free.
NETWORK AFFINITY GROUPS

Join NJHSA’s Member Agency ONLY affinity groups. There are more than 20 professional groups that meet over Zoom video conferencing where participants have the opportunity to connect, learn, share and support each other. Whether it be to resolve specific agency challenges or define larger Network projects, the affinity groups bring like professionals together on a regular basis.

Key Success Factors in Addressing Jewish Poverty: Engaging People with Lived Experiences
This is the third in a new National Affinity Group on Jewish Poverty webinar series, "Key Success Factors in Addressing Jewish Poverty" in which the group will highlight specific case studies and bright spots from throughout North America, with a particular focus on meeting the enormous challenges posed by the Covid pandemic and its economic effects.

Future sessions will explore such issues as measurement and evaluation, virtual program delivery, and convening for impact. Save the following dates (all Thursdays, from 12-1 pm ET) for the next two sessions: February 18th, March 4th. More dates will be announced soon.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
Community Employment Grant Program
 
Community Employment Grants are awarded to increase employment and career opportunities for individuals with disabilities in New Jersey. These grants support projects, programs, capacity building, pilot initiatives and creative solutions that focus on job placement, education, training and retention. 
Nonprofit organizations that serve New Jersey residents and are tax-exempt according to the Internal Revenue Code may apply for a Community Employment Grant. This includes nonprofit organizations, public/private schools and public institutions. Deadline: February 26, 2021. Learn more here.
The Foundation for Financial Planning is accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations whose programs link pro bono financial planners to people in need. Programs should include one-on-one engagements between Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professionals and pro bono clients, and comply with COVID-19 safety guidelines. Deadline: April 30, 2021.
