Social Concerns Announcements:

During the Season of LENT we at FLC will have a wonderful opportunity to do “alms giving,” one of the three ways which Bishop Brian Maas reminded us on February 23 is a good way to prepare ourselves for the joyous EASTER celebration!  “Alms giving” means giving to others who are in need. We are going to have a “Bathroom Shower Ingathering” for REFUGEES who are being resettled in Nebraska, sponsored by Lutheran Family Services. Let’s see how many of the 100 families involved we can help by providing necessities for their bathrooms! There will be a table and bin in the narthex for your collection of the following items between March 2 through March 3l: bath towels, shampoo, soap, individual toothbrushes, tooth paste, and deodorant. Happy shopping for this REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT BATHROOM SHOWER!

For those who may wish to make additional donations of furniture for furnishing apartments, such as chairs or other household items in good condition, go to: https://www.lfsneb.org/get-involved/ On this page you can go to the section labeled “Furniture/Household items” where there is information regarding donations. At the bottom of the section there is a hyperlink to sign up to drop off donations in Omaha or in Lincoln. In Omaha, sign up to drop off donations HERE! Disregard the Lincoln information.

Please note there is both a plastic and a wooden Receptacle for gifts to the WASHINGTON COUNTY FOOD PANTRY are available to receive your food donations at FLC at any time!

Women's Spring Gathering

Collecting Tangible Items at FLC

NSWO, Metro East Conference Spring Gathering is meeting April 2 at FLC. We are collecting Tangible Offerings that will go to Kountze Food Pantry. There is a box by the Welcome Center for your offerings. Some items requested include shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, deodorant, feminine products and nonperishable foods.

SAVE THE DATE!

The women of First Lutheran are hosting the Metro East Spring Gathering on April 2, 2022. Volunteers are needed to help prep and serve the luncheon at the spring conference on April 2, 2022. The shifts will run from 11am to finish, about 1:30pm. Two Volunteers are also needed to help load the Tangible offering gifts in a van from 12:30pm - 1:00pm. A sign up sheet is at the welcome center or contact Rhonda McMurtry, 402-427-3341, to volunteer.

 Thanks in advance for helping.

Torn: Shredding the Fabric of Our Lies

Lent 2022

The season of Lent began on March 2 with Ash Wednesday and the imposition of ashes as a reminder of our mortality and Christ’s gift of life everlasting. This year we are exploring “lies we tell ourselves,” and how the in-breaking of God into our lives exposes those lies, and reveals the truth of God’s love and care for us. Join us Wednesday evenings at 6:15 pm for Torn: Shredding the Fabric of Our Lies.
