Students, Families, Staff and Community,
Last week, the California Department of Public Health (CPHD) revised their guidance specifically to K-12 schools. Alameda County Public Department (ACPHD) followed with some changes to the masking guidance to their current guidance. More information on the updated mask recommendations can be found here, CDPH mask guidance and ACPHD mask guidance.
As of Sunday, March 13, CSD will strongly recommend that all of our students, staff, or anyone that comes onto our campus continue to wear masks when learning and/or conducting business at CSD. With the recent revision, the guidance does not require schools to enforce masking when indoors. Health professionals continue to reinforce that wearing a high-quality, well-fitting mask is one of the most effective ways to reduce your risk of contracting and mitigating the transmission of COVID-19.
To ensure the safety of our students, staff and families at CSD, we will continue to test our residential students regularly on Sundays and Wednesday evenings. This also includes providing testing at-home kits to our day students and staff upon request. The testing program at CSD has given us the ability to screen out students who are positive as much as possible. We continue to encourage families to test their children at home with the kits that we provide to students.
Let’s acknowledge our continued efforts to keep the doors open for in-person instruction as it has been very beneficial to our students. We will continue to monitor the situation and work with CPDH and ACPHD upon any immediate guidance redirection in the very near future.
We will not tolerate any form of harassment, criticism, and/or exclusion of any individual decision whether to or not to wear a mask. Instead, we will stay focused on our students by ensuring that they finish out the school year healthy. I appreciate your ongoing support and commitment to the school’s mission by working together.
Sincerely yours,
|
