Join us on July 7th from 7pm to 8 pm for a Roundtable for an India in Covid Crisis Roundtable at Wake Tech RTP (10908 Chapel Hill Road, Morrisville, NC 27560) with special guests, Swadesh Chatterjee, Chair US India Friendship Council, and US Congressman David Price (Congressional District 4) and US Congresswoman Deb Ross (Congressional District 2).
During this Roundtable, we will be discussing the US Government Response, address community concerns, and share ideas on how we can help India through the crisis.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the July 3 Family Fest!
In the evening, it was an honor for our Town to accept an All-America City Award from the National Civic League. We were presented with a Plaque and once again, thanks to all of the Citizens, Staff, and the Council for getting us to be an All-America City.
The future looks very bright for our Town!

USA Womens’ Cricket Finishes T1 Qualifier in Morrisville!
|

My Message on Making Morrisville into the Cricket Capital of the US:
It was a great weekend of world class cricket in Morrisville this weekend as we hosted USA Womans Cricket for in the Qualifier Rounds. Congratulations to the Eastern Zone Team, who won this round.
Next round is for the Eastern Team to go on to play in the Nationals being held in Florida Aug 2-8. From there the National team will be selected to play in World Cup qualifiers to be held sometime in September v Canada, Argentina and Brazil.
A special thanks to USA Cricket, Jerry Allen from Parks and Recreation, Asia Sheikh, Supriya Desai, Rupali and all of the Volunteers, the Triangle Cricket League and all of the volunteers who worked so hard to make this Tournament a Success!
We are on our way to becoming the Cricket Capital of the United States!

Morrisville Carpenter Road Improvements
|
Morrisville Carpenter Road Improvements
Work on the south side of Morrisville Carpenter Road (between Church Street and Misty Groves Circle) in connection with the road widening operations will continue. The temporary shoring work for the culvert is ongoing.
Drivers should be prepared for flagging operations in this area between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Northbound traffic for Town Hall Drive continues to be redirected along the southbound side of the median.

Thanks for attending our July 3 Family Fun Festival which included live music and entertainment, magic shows, carnival games, food trucks, family-friendly games, prize giveaways, Morrisville’s small businesses, Town project information displays, and more. I will be showcasing some of the Small Businesses in my next few newsletters!

July Neighborhood Street, Parking Lot, and Sidewalk Repairs
|
Throughout July, the following street sidewalks and parking lots will receive repairs and maintenance. Work progress and upcoming paving activities will be listed on the Town website and posted to the Town’s social media pages. The sidewalk repairs are currently underway to remove over 560 trip hazards. Residents may be asked to move their vehicles in advance of repair work. For questions, contact the Morrisville Public Works Department by calling (919) 463-7070.

Green Drive & Fairview Avenue Stormwater Project Commences June 28
|
The Green Drive & Fairview Avenue stormwater project will commence construction on Monday, June 28. Work will start on Fairview Avenue and will continue for approximately two months and move to Green Drive for another two months. The project aims to reduce flooding in the area by upsizing culverts. Covid Trends headed in right direction in US.
|
New cases are at 12,000 a day, the lowest since testing became widely available. The average of fewer than 300 daily deaths is a decline of 23 percent over the past two weeks. Americans are riding a wave of optimism: Travel is expected to be up 40 percent over last year. The number of airline passengers is expected to be up 164 percent.

Cyber Attack on Swedish Grocery Chain
|
One of Sweden’s largest grocery chains, Coop, had to close at least 800 stores on Saturday. A Swedish railroad and a major pharmacy chain were also hit, according to a cybersecurity researcher. Some of the affected companies were asked for $5 million in ransom.
Security researchers said the attack might have been carried out by REvil, a Russian cybercriminal group that the F.B.I. has said was behind the hacking of JBS, the world’s largest meat processor, in May
