MOVING & SHAKING @ KML
The Library will take care of some long-deferred and necessary repairs including asbestos remediation and new carpet installation. These tasks require that the Library close on January 15 and temporarily move to #19 & #23 Kent Green Boulevard for a few weeks. The estimated time of returning to 32 North Main Street is early February.
New materials, periodicals, a selection of audiobooks and DVDs, computers, and wireless printing will be available at #19. Patrons will be able to request materials from other Libraries to be delivered to the temporary location. Selections of children's books, toys, Tuesday baby group, Thursday lunch bunch, a winter story hour, and a TAB knitting & crochet circle will all be occurring as scheduled.
There are some programs for adults in January, too. The KLA will hold its annual meeting on Saturday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m.
immediately followed by a Sculptor Talk by Peter Woytuk at the Kent Town Hall. Artist Susan Grisell has been signed-up for January & February 2020 for a few years and in order to accommodate her the Library will have a small exhibit of her work from January 15 until the move back to 32 North Main in addition to her regular exhibit at the Library in February.
"Thanks to the Town of Kent, who provided grant money to pay some of the expenses for the move and repairs being made at the Library. To get this work done, and done quickly, we must close. We hope to make this as painless as possible," comments Library Director, Sarah Marshall. "Owner of Kent Green, John Casey, has so graciously donated the space for our temporary move," she adds. "We are grateful for all the support!"

The first session will cover Bridge etiquette, sorting and evaluating your hand, bidding or responding at the 1 or 2 level with your hand and playing set-up hands which demonstrate basic principals covered in the first session. DONATE A SPECIAL CAR TO KENT MEMORIAL LIBRARY CAR RAFFLE
In 2002, Billy and Mary Gawel made their beautifully restored 1932 Chevy five window coupe available to help raise funds for the Library - and thus KML's annual Car Raffle was born. The "Car Guys," a committee of the Library, was formed and Rudy Molho, Michaela Lawrence, Allan Priaulx, Julie Saxton and Jim Blackketter, with the recent addition of Jim Norton, came together to carry the project forward as a Library fundraiser. Since then, with the help of many dedicated volunteers, the Library has purchased 14 cars to offer in the raffle, with all the proceeds net of the cost of the car going directly into the operating budget.
The car raffle is one of the Library's primary fundraisers to help supplement the Town grant, which only provides 30% of the yearly budget. OK, so here's the "ask:" If you have a classic or otherwise appropriate car for KML's raffle that you would consider donating to the Library, KML would love to hear from you. As an accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your donation could provide a tax advantage to you while helping to sustain the Kent Memorial Library into the future. Thanks for your support of the Kent Memorial Library, a treasure in our town.
