King County Vaccination Verification Order
Scheduled to End Tuesday, March 1st
In response to improved COVID data on the county's dashboards, including higher rates of vaccine coverage and a decrease in new cases and hospitalizations, King County announced today that the Vaccination Verification Order requiring proof of vaccine or a negative COVID test for entry to establishments including restaurants, bars, theaters and gyms will end on Tuesday, March 1.

Organizations have the option to choose to impose their own vaccine requirements for the safety of their staff, including those that may be immunocompromised or parents of children under 5.

Redmond Mayor Angela Birney Elected
2022 Sound Cities Association President
Redmond Mayor Angela Birney has been elected President of the Sound Cities Association (SCA), which represents 38 King County cities and provides a regional voice for more than one million people.

"I've had the opportunity to work closely with Angela for many years and she has always been a key partner and strong leader for both Redmond and the region," said King County Executive Dow Constantine. "As Angela brings her experience and expertise to this new role, I look forward to continued collaboration with her and SCA in the year ahead."
Washington State Legislative Update
This year an unprecedented number of bills (over 1,000) have been introduced during this short session of the Washington State Legislature. Normally a short session is focused on bills retained from last session, in addition to addressing urgent issues and minor budget changes. However, this year will look very different as there is a projected increase of revenue of $3.6B for the current 2021-23 biennium and $4.1B for the upcoming 2023-2025 biennium.

OneRedmond is following a number of bills that could impact our business climate and quality of life. One is House Bill HOPE, or HB 2020. This bill addresses affordable workforce housing and has its origins in the OneRedmond Government Affairs Committee. Our past president Robert Pantley and his team have built a comprehensive solution from this original work, and they have garnered significant support from our local leadership. Efforts like this will take multiple years and we are hopeful that some of the elements in this comprehensive bill will be put into action this year.
