When Raphaël Feuillâtre won first prize at the 2018 Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition in Louisville, Kentucky, he was scarcely known in the U.S. But he was already well known and admired in Europe where he had competed in numerous festivals. He had recorded his first album there for the JSM label, which included pieces by Bach, Granados (including Feuillâtre's own arrangements of the Valses poéticos), Tansman, Assad, and Dyens.
His program for our San Jose concert includes pieces by Barrios, Llobet, Rameau, Ramirez, Brouwer, Assad, Villa-Lobos, Scriabin, and Rachmaninoff. Now listen to his mastery on a seldom-played Bach partita:

Mark your calendars: Our annual Guitarfest is scheduled for March 7 and 8.
It includes six free clinics, 18 adjudications, and a master class with the talented artist Judicaël Perroy. Perroy will also play at the evening concert on March 7. You will find more information and links to

OUR CONCERT SEASON CONTINUES WITH PERFORMANCES BY THREE OUTSTANDING ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD: Judicaël Perroy, Aaron Larget-Caplan, and Jerome Mouffe. CONSULT OUR WEB SITE FOR MORE INFORMATION.
Once a month the society hosts an open mic at which guitarists of all ages and abilities try out their latest efforts in a welcoming atmosphere. You can perform or just enjoy the music. It is free of charge. We meet from 7 to 9 pm at San Jose's Vineland Library at 1450 Blossom Hill Road.
We record the open mic performances and, if the guitarist agrees, post them on our YouTube and Facebook pages and on Instagram. Check out examples:
