Dear Residents -

We are only weeks away from the new all-inclusive playground at Veteran’s Park being completed. I am excited and very much looking forward to seeing children, of every ability, playing side by side. However, my staff and I have been struggling to come up with a name for the new playground and so, one of my smart staffers suggested we open it up to all of you to come up with a name – a contest of sorts. So, to all you witty people out there, put on your thinking caps and come up with some clever names for our newest playground. Please submit your ideas by April 29th to kickstart@orangetown.com. May the cleverest of you win!

With the arrival of spring and the warmer weather, events are quickly populating our calendars. This Saturday alone there is the Palisades Community Center Farmer's Market at 9:00 am, the Orangetown Parks and Recreation Department will be selling tickets to Tina, the musical between 9:00 and 10:30 am at Town Hall, and the Sparkill Creek Community Cleanup will begin at 9:00 am.

It’s also that time of year when registration opens for the (now third annual) Hunger’s 5K Heroes Run/Walk. This year it will be on Saturday, May 14, starting at 10:00 am at Depot Square in Sparkill. Last year we had tremendous support and hope to do even better this year. With 100% of the net proceeds benefitting local food pantries in Orangetown, please consider joining us and supporting local organizations that provide vital resources to our neighbors in need.

This past week I had the pleasure of attending the 2022 Rockland County American Legion Law and Order Recognition Night where our Detective Division was acknowledged for their great detective work. Congratulations to Orangetown Detectives Daniel Costello, Daniel Ryan, David Maddalena, Brandon Myers, Andrew Vergine and Matthew Sullivan, as well as to all the award recipients, on jobs well done.

And last but not least, next Saturday the Easter Bunny will be traveling through the streets of Pearl River. Be sure to check back next week for the exact route and times so that you don’t miss it! All are welcome and rumor has it the Bunny will not be alone.

Have a great weekend!

Respectfully,
Teresa M. Kenny

Dr. Arlene Clinkscale is still making the news! The Nyack Middle School, in conjunction with the Nyack Public Schools, opened the Clinkscale Global Learning Commons on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. As the plaque reads, "May her leadership, legacy and innovative spirit inspire the hearts and minds of each student entering these doors to explore the world as lifelong learners."
Grand Opening of Orange Bank and Trust, Thursday, April 7, 2022. Congratulations and welcome to the Town of Orangetown!

Scam alert!
Be aware of telephone scammers impersonating Law Enforcement. Law enforcement officers will not call out of the blue requesting personal information, and they will not demand money.

Scammers can manipulate CALLER ID, and calls may falsely appear to come from a legitimate law enforcement or government agency.

If you receive a phone call, email or text message instructing you to purchase a prepaid merchanted gift card/debit card, cryptocurrency, bank wire transfer, or money order to pay Law enforcement for bail, or to make the charges “go away”, just hang up, it’s a scam.

Last year, Supervisor Teresa M. Kenny was able to disburse funds to 5 local food pantries: The Nyack Center, Soup Angels of Nyack, Rockland County Pride Center, People to People and the South Orangetown School District Food Pantry. Won't you help make this bigger and better?

Thank you for your support.
