Where to Find Hearing Screening Resources When You Need Them

The ECHO Initiative Team has been pleased to answer thousands of questions over the years about best practices for conducting hearing screening with children ages 0-5. While we've often been able to provide in-depth individual responses to inquiries, we've also tried to make technical assistance and training available 24/7 by disseminating important content on our website. Here's a brief reminder of how this information is organized along with highlights of specific resources that are central to hearing screening program development and sustainability:

On the www.KidsHearing.org  home page, visitors who are new to hearing screening for young children may want to watch a preview of how Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) screening is done or to take a quick video tour of the website.

If you have a more specific need, you can:
The majority of questions we receive are about OAE screening, so let's take a deeper dive into what you'll find when you click the OAE screening method link mentioned above.

On the left side of this page, you'll see Video Tutorial Modules 1 - 11, divided into four sessions, which walk you through how to set up a hearing screening program, the screening protocol, equipment options, steps for developing screening skills, and tips about tracking children who need follow-up screening or referral. You'll also see a series of Hands-On Practice Exercises and a way to generate a certificate of completion for each session, if desired.

Don't forget to check out the corresponding Implementation Tools on the right. As you click on the listed items, drop-down menus will appear that give you access to the full range of tools.  Here are just a few of the most commonly used tools:
The Pure Tone Screening page features a parallel set of Video Tutorial Modules and Implementation Tools.

Our goal has always been to help you succeed in your hearing screening efforts!!
