Dear RUSD Community,

Amid the tragic death of George Floyd and the events that have followed; concern, fear and anger are among the many emotions being felt by students, staff and community in Rowland Unified. The Rowland Unified School District condemns racial injustice, oppression, and discrimination. All people deserve to live and thrive in a community and a world that is free of discrimination and violence. Collectively, we all play a critical role in creating a more just and inclusive world.

The Rowland Unified School District is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion.  As educators, our job is to do more than teach content. We have a responsibility to teach and talk about injustices, to ensure students have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to build a more just world, and to inspire them to be the change. We condemn acts of hate and violence. Our schools foster a community of acceptance, empathy and kindness for others.

We must be relentless in our pursuit to learn about, understand and embrace each other’s differences so that we can create a better future for us all. Together we can provide opportunities for our children to be advocates and effect change through fostering environments where all members of our community feel welcome, valued, and accepted.

Thank you for partnering with us in this and all efforts to support the children in our community.
