Art Exhibit: Transitions by South Kent artist Allison May Gennings. The exhibit can be seen in the Gallery (and online) from November 2 through December 30.
Tuesday, November 24 at 10:30 a.m. Rhythm and Rhyme. Sing-alongs, finger plays, puppets and more! For kids ages 0-3 with a caregiver. Join us on Zoom.
Wednesday, November 25 at 10:30 a.m. Baby Group in the Grass. Sing-alongs, finger plays, puppets and more! For kids ages 0-3 with a caregiver. Join us in a shady spot under trees behind the Visitor Center. Registration required. Capped at 12 families. Adults must wear face mask or shield.
Thursday, November 26 LIBRARY CLOSED FOR THANKSGIVING DAY.
Friday, November 27 at 3:30 p.m. TAB & Book Club. Come help plan new programs and suggest new materials for the library! We also will be discussing our Book Group book (title TBA). Grades 5 and up only. Please register on our website for Zoom meeting code.

Wednesday, December 2 at 7:00 p.m. Book Talk & Signing: Singular Sensation by author, theatre critic and longtime Broadway columnist for the New York Post, Michael Riedel. He will be interviewed by author Tom Santopietro as they discuss this newly published book about Broadway. Co-sponsored by House of Books. On Zoom. Please register for login information. Thursday, December 3 at 12:30 p.m. LUNCH BUNCH! Bring your lunch, listen to stories and enjoy a fun craft. All ages. Location: TBD. Call the Library for more information. Friday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m. Virtual Music Access. Join us for coffeehouse style music on the first Friday of each month. Tonight's guests are Wanda Houston and George Potts. Wanda Houston currently lives in the South Berkshires where she works as a private vocal coach and choral director. She, also, is the lead vocalist for a number of projects including the Mothership Trio, The VJC Big Band, The HBH Band and The Wanda Houston Band. George Potts has been singing & playing music throughout Litchfield County for over 4 decades. After leaving a full-time music career in Chicago and relocating to Kent in June of 1976, he served for many years as the bassist for his father-in-law Dolph Traymon's group, The Fife 'n Drum Trio. He also performed in the 1990s as a member of the Kent Singers, and as a solo guitarist & vocalist. Since the late 90s, George has most often been seen as a member of the popular area quartet, the Joint Chiefs. On Zoom. Please register for login information.
COMING UP
Thursday, December 17 from 5:00 to 6:15 p.m. Fall Book Discussion Series: 75 Years of Writing by Blacks, A Sampler. In tune with our times, the fall book discussion group will look into four novels that cover aspects of the Black experience in the United States from the end of WWII to the present. Over this time span, the language to describe our subject has shifted from Negro, to African-American, to the present discussion of black v. Black, white v. White. How much else has changed? Each of these novels has something to say on that subject. This month's book is A Kind of Freedom by Margaret Wilkerson Sexton. Betty Krasne, Ph.D., a writer and retired professor of literature who lives in Kent, leads the discussions. On Zoom. Please register so the Library will know how many books to round up. Learning Theatre Arts at The Sharon Playhouse
 Everyone loves the theatre and the pandemic makes us miss it even more! Lucky for us many of our local theatres are coming up with innovative programs to attract an audience.
The Sharon Playhouse is thrilled to embark on a new initiative to expand its educational programming! Starting this month, the playhouse is offering theater arts classes for kids, teens, and adults.
Opportunities are available for both in-person and virtual learning, allowing community members near and far to participate. And stay tuned for even more educational classes, workshops, and events in 2021!
