Governor Announces New Mitigations to
Slow Spread of COVID-19
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced Tuesday that Tier 3 resurgence mitigations will be in place throughout the state starting tomorrow (Friday, November 20) to slow the increasing spread of COVID-19. While residents are urged to stay at home other than for essential trips such as going to the grocery store, pharmacy or to be tested for COVID-19, new guidelines include reminders that families should only host Thanksgiving gatherings with household members. Indoor recreation, including museums, movie theaters, zoos and others, should also close to the public. Employers are additionally urged to allow employees to work from home if possible. Village Hall Closed in Observance of Thanksgiving Holiday
The Village of Long Grove wishes all residents a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday. All Village departments will be closed in observance of the holiday on Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27, 2020. As a reminder, Village operations are continuing remotely due to the pandemic, and will resume for normal business hours on Monday, November 30 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Waste and refuse pick up: Due to the holiday, residents who normally have waste and refuse pick up by Waste Management on Thursdays will instead have their pick up occur on the Friday after Thanksgiving, and normal Friday pick ups will take place on Saturday during this holiday week.

RPC Bridge
Protections Planned
Repair work on the RPC Bridge that was recommended after an inspection was recently completed. The work involved mending portions of the bridge's underside and adding reinforcement plates and bolts to its four corners. The Village will be pursuing another project to repair damages to the wooden cover, caused by several oversized vehicles that struck the bridge. These incidents occurred since it was renovated and reopened in August. The Village is also planning to install new signage along the roads leading to it, in order to help protect it from further damages. Updates will be provided in subsequent communications.
Weiss Properties Donates Hand Sanitizer
to Local Businesses
The pandemic has brought many challenges to businesses. Long Grove-based company Weiss Properties, a real estate investment firm and the owner of The Reserve at Salem Lake (formerly CF Industries), recently extended a helping hand to our local businesses. With the advent of COVID-19, Weiss Properties, which owns a distillery, began manufacturing hand sanitizer as a personal protective equipment (PPE) product. The company contacted the Village and offered to donate hand sanitizer to businesses in Long Grove. The Village coordinated the distribution of more than 90 gallons of hand sanitizer to local businesses that opted to participate. The Village wants to thank Weiss Properties for their generous donation and is extremely appreciative of their support during these challenging times.

The Long Grove Park District recently presented a plaque to members of the Mainstreet Organization of Realtors and North Shore Barrington Association of Realtors (NSBAR) in recognition of a $12,000 grant earlier this year. The donation was used by the park district to pay for enhancements to Buffalo Creek Park, and included repairing and staining the wooden gazebo, arbors and benches. Kent Tinucci, president of the Long Grove Park District, said the restoration of the park structures could not have happened in 2020 without the grant. Bobbie O’Reilly, owner of Weichert Realtors/McKee Real Estate in downtown Long Grove and a Long Grove Village Trustee, successfully applied for this grant to benefit the park, which is owned and maintained by the park district.
