JULIE PENROSE AWARD TO HONOR EXCEPTIONAL FEMALE LEADERSHIP
August 12, 2020 was the 150th birthday of El Pomar co-founder Julie Penrose. In her honor, the Trustees established a yearly award to highlight outstanding women who, like her, have made significant contributions to their communities through leadership and dedication.
EL POMAR WELCOMES FELLOWSHIP CLASS OF 2020
The nine 1st Year Fellows began their Fellowship on August 3rd, representing eight schools in three states with degrees in business management, biology and many additional disciplines. Learn more about the 1st Year Class and their backgrounds and programs below.
COLONEL (RET.) GAIL COLVIN JOINS BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The El Pomar Board of Trustees was pleased to welcome Colonel (Ret.) Gail Colvin this past August. Colonel Colvin is currently the Director of Staff at the US Air Force Academy after having served a distinguished 30-year career in the military. Colonel Colvin joins the Trustees after serving four years on the Pikes Peak Regional Council. Learn more about Colonel Colvin's background below.
EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN HONORED WITH SPIRIT OF THE SPRINGS, PIKES PEAK HILL CLIMB RECOGNITION
In his 47th year with the Foundation, Executive Chairman William J. Hybl was honored with the Mayor's Spirit of the Springs Lifetime Achievement Award and was inducted into the Pikes Peak Hill Climb Hall of Fame. Congratulations on both of these prestigious recognitions, Chairman Hybl!
EL POMAR WELCOMES THREE NEW STAFF
El Pomar President and CEO Kyle H. Hybl announced earlier this month that the Foundation is hiring three new full time staff.

Erin Hannan joined the Foundation as Vice President of Communications after serving as Interim Director the past several months and brings a wealth of communications and public relations leadership experience from organizations around the Pikes Peak region.

Zuleika Johnson will begin her role as Vice President of Opportunity and Outreach in January 2021. Ms. Johnson currently serves at UCCS as an Associate Director of Development and the co-chair of the Emerging Leaders Development Hispanic Advisory Council.

Stacy Pons joined the Foundation as Assistant Controller and Business Manager this week after serving as Controller with the Widefield Water and Sanitation District.

WILLIAM J. HYBL SPORTS MEDICINE AND PERFORMANCE CENTER GRAND OPENING
After several years of construction, the state-of-the-art sports medicine and training facility on the UCCS campus named for our Executive Chairman opened its doors to the public. The socially distanced unveiling ceremony was attended by El Pomar and UCCS leadership.
FELLOWSHIP CLASS OF 2021
The application for the Fellowship Class of 2021 is now open. El Pomar Foundation encourages applications from recent college graduates with a passion for leadership, dedication to self-improvement and a desire to invest in the communities of Colorado. Please consider sharing information about this transformational experience in your network. Applications are due January 6, 2021
INTERNSHIP
The El Pomar Internship is a unique summer program that introduces continuing undergraduate students to the nonprofit sector while supporting their professional development. Interns work with and are mentored by El Pomar's leadership and staff as well as other leaders in philanthropy. Applications are due February 12, 2021.
