WAMA Executive Director

It is with great appreciation that we bid farewell to our WAMA Executive Director, Bob O'Brien. Bob has been with the organization since 2012 and has decided to hang up his Airport hat for the last time on June 30th. We want to thank Bob for his support for our organization over the last 7 years and wish him the best of luck on his retirement. Don't be a stranger, Bob!

As the saying goes, when one door closes another one opens. It is with excitement that we announce our new Executive Director Lisa Maroney. Lisa is new to the Airport industry but has considerable legislative experience and in previous careers has represented many different Statewide associations.

65th Annual Wisconsin Aviation Conference

As a reminder, the 65th Wisconsin Aviation Conference was postponed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference is rescheduled to May 2-4, 2021 at the Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake, WI. Please be sure to save the date for the 2021 conference which promises to be bigger and better as we collectively rebound from these challenging circumstances. In the meantime, please reach out to anyone on the WAMA Board if there is anything we can do to support you and your airport.
Congratulations to New WI A.A.E.

Brian Dranzik, A.A.E., airport director, Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport recently became Wisconsin's newest Accredited Airport Executive through the American Association of Airport Executives.

Becoming an A.A.E. is a great way to command respect in the airport industry. Since 1954, AAAE has been committed to the advancement of aviation professionals by granting the A.A.E. designation to those who have demonstrated their ability to handle the responsibilities of airport management. You can learn more about the A.A.E. process and download an application on the

Flying Hamburger Socials 2020 - Cancelled
By: Jeff Gaier

Like many Wisconsin residents, I'm irritated, pissed and generally not my happy go lucky self. Part of the reason is how this great state is being held hostage by a disease. Never in a million years would I have imagined that I would have my nephew at home being home schooled by my wife, businesses considered non-essential and shut down while others remain open, shortages of toilet paper, not being able to get my hair cut, meat shortages, killer hornets, etc. What's next? Sharknado?. When did we all get sucked into the game Jumanji?

Where am I going with all of this? John, Rob and I have been talking a lot about the future of the Flying Hamburger Social season for 2020. As aviators, we want to fly and go somewhere. However we agree that it would be in the best interest to cancel the 2020 Flying Hamburger Social season. With AirVenture canceling for 2020 that was pretty much was the final nail in the coffin.
