BETH EL HAPPENINGS
As we continue to join together for Shabbat via Zoom, please note that we are now offering attendees to read prayers that are meaningful to them during the service. If you are interested in reading a particular prayer during a service, please contact Neal Goldman at nealg18@novusba.com with the page number of the prayer in the Mishkan T’filah prayer book. Please indicate whether you would like to read during the upcoming Friday evening or Saturday morning service. All prayers will be read towards the end of services.

Please send this information no later than noon the Thursday prior to the service. We look forward to continuing to join together as best as we can during these challenging times to support each other and our community. The online version of the Mishkan T’filah can be found here:

We can all use some good news. Please submit anything you would like to share with your Beth El family by Thursday at 5 PM to elissa@bethelbeaches.org.

  • Share your joys, accomplishments, bragging rights of someone you love, children, grandchildren, or anything else that is good and you want to shout it from the rooftop. Your Beth El family wants to share in your happiness.

I can't wait to hear from you and all the good news!
With three of my four grandparents being born in the U.S. and the fourth in Frankfurt-au-Main, Germany, it was, with hesitation, that I attended (via zoom of course) the Rabbi’s Yiddish “class” this past Tuesday. My grandmother who was born in Germany came to the U.S.A. when she was 6 months old, so I don’t think she was a conversationalist in Yiddish yet. Two of the three USA-born grandparents were from Chicago and you would think they spoke Yiddish. The grandmother who lived with us didn’t, her husband didn’t, and the other grandfather was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, so not much hope there either. So, when I married Lew, my Brooklyn born husband who transplanted to the South Shore of Long Island, little did I know I was about to step into a new and exciting world of Yiddish discussions, singing, and his grandmother perched in the chair commenting on the happenings on the Ed Sullivan show. I missed the first Yiddish class, loved the second, and emailed to “sign me up” for the entire month of February. Fun! If you have time, try it, you’ll like it!
