 IEP Mentoring Program
In collaboration with the Connecticut Parent Advocacy Center (CPAC), the Down Syndrome Association of Connecticut (DS ACT), has created a mentoring program where members have free access to a parent coach experienced in educational advocacy and trained in the Down syndrome learning profile. Through the mentoring program, families are supported in claiming their spot on the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team by teaching them the ins and outs around your child's needs.
Foundations of Inclusion TIPS
TIES Inclusive Practice Series (TIPS) are designed to share practical information, ideas, and strategies on specific topics and practices to support inclusive education.
Are you ready to really include me?

Down Syndrome Queensland (DSQ) has released a new information video entitled, “What is Inclusion?” Produced in collaboration with students from the Griffith Film School and Pullenvale State School, the four-minute clip showcases the difference between integration, perceived inclusion and true inclusion in a classroom environment.
4 Benefits of Inclusive Classrooms

In an inclusive classroom, general education teachers and special education teachers work together to meet the needs of students.
This gives special education students the support they need while they stay in a general education classroom.
All students can benefit from inclusive classrooms.

Connecticut Has a
New Individualized Education Program (IEP) Form!
Avon SEPTA invites you to a presentation by the
Connecticut Parent Advocacy Center

Come learn about the changes to CT's Individualized Education Program Form coming up for the 2022-2023 school year. This presentation will review the changes to how the form will be filled out, how data will be collected, and how CT Core Standards will be used to help develop appropriate goals and objectives. This is an opportunity to ask questions and be prepared for this new document at your child's Planning and Placement Meeting (PPT) next school year.
