Thank You for Your Support
As the 2019-20 school year winds down, I want to thank all of you for unwavering support of your children and Chaska Middle School West. Partnering with you to provide a rigorous, creative and thoughtful distance learning experience for your children was challenging but your support allowed us to sustain excellence. Our teachers worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for each child to succeed. We realize how difficult distance learning was for families. Every child has a unique learning style and each family has a exclusive set of circumstances at home. Regardless of your situation, thank you for your patience as we ventured into distance learning and finished the year strong.

The District will carefully review the results of our Distance Learning Survey going out to students this week. We will use the results along with other feedback we've gathered and an advisory team who will meet over the summer, to be proactive in creating a plan for next year if we end up starting the year remotely.

As I write this, our curbside pickup and drop off plan is organized and we're excited to see our students Monday and Tuesday as we celebrate a bittersweet but successful year of learning for your children.

I announced my retirement in February, never dreaming I would end my career working mostly remotely at home. My last official day is June 30th. I live in the community so hopefully I will see some of you walking, at the store, etc. I will miss working with your children and watching them grow and change over their crucial middle school years. I appreciate the overwhelming support from our parents this year, as always. With so much going wrong in the world right now, please cherish your loved ones, value special moments and treasure those special places that bring you joy.

Thank you and happy summer!
Sheryl Hough

Chromebook Information
All students keep their chromebooks over the summer. Students who will be receiving new chromebooks next fall will be turning in their current ones after the start of the new school year.

If your student is leaving our district, their chromebook must be returned to school prior to departure. Please contact the school office to schedule a time to drop it off with the charger.

For technology help during the summer email [email protected] or call and leave a message at 952-556-7777.

Student Yearbooks
There was a problem with our yearbooks and they all needed to be reprinted and have not yet arrived at school. If you pre-ordered a copy for your student, it will be mailed directly to you from the printer.

Extra copies were ordered and once they are finally delivered to school, they will be on sale for $25 on a first come, first served basis. Watch our website for a news posting when they arrive. Hopefully it will be some time over the next week or two. Thank you for your patience.

Parent Teacher Organization
Thank you for supporting our school! Our online silent auction fundraiser, Reach for the Stars, was a big success raising over $4,300! All money raised supports students directly. We greatly appreciate your participation and generosity despite the event being exclusively online.
If you are interested in participating in the PTO next year, contact [email protected]. All are welcome.
Have a nice summer.
