The Big 9
Approximately 90% of food allergy reactions occur to one of nine common foods in the U.S.1 Called “The Big 9.” Strict avoidance of the offending food is recommended to prevent potentially life-threatening reactions by those with food allergies. For information on responding to a food allergy reaction, visit our FAQ page.

CDC Resources
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has created a toolkit to help schools implement the Voluntary Guidelines for Managing Food Allergies in order to prevent and manage severe allergic reactions in schools. The toolkit includes tip sheets, training presentations and podcasts for school superintendents, administrators, teachers and para-educators, school nutrition professionals, school transportation staff, and school mental health professionals.

Food Allergy Training
SNA continues to bring you updated Food Allergy training that focuses on the basics and not-so-basics. This topic is critical for school nutrition professionals, because knowing the signs and symptoms of a food allergy reaction and what steps to take can save a child’s life. Earn CEUs and valuable information while participating in these webinars.

Got Questions? Just Ask
