The Glades Initiative Food Distribution 

For the past year and a half, and continuing into the future, The Glades Initiative offers weekly food distribution to anyone in need. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesdays from 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come first-serve basis.

Our staff and volunteers will wear personal protective gear as we handle and distribute the food bags. We ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

USDA Rural Development Business and Industry CARES Act Program Webinar CARES

The USDA is making available up to $1 billion in loan guarantees to help rural businesses meet their working capital needs during the coronavirus pandemic. Registration Open for 2020 Back to School PBC

Registration is open for the 2020 Back to School PBC! event to be held on Saturday, August 1.
Back to School PBC! will be a drive-up event this year, and will be held at different locations throughout the county to be announced at a later date. Registration is mandatory to participate, and students must reside in designated neighborhoods or mobile home parks in unincorporated Palm Beach County to be eligible to register.

WHEN: Saturday, August 1, 2020

The School Food Service summer feeding program begins on Tuesday, June 2, at 50 school locations throughout the School District. Food distribution is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Summer Food Service at Local Libraries (For Ages 18 and under)

Palm Beach County Youth Services Department's Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) will transition from pre-summer feeding at eight locations to the full Summer Food Service Program feeding schedule. Beginning June 1, 43 sites throughout the county, including 16 Palm Beach County Library locations, will serve as meal distribution sites with additional sites added weekly. Parents picking up kits without their child present must bring identification for the child. Acceptable forms of identification include student ID, child's passport or other government-issued ID, birth certificate, adoption decree, immunization records, and school demographics.

4H Distributes Camp Kits to Glades Youth

From Pahokee Library: The library received notice of a terrific offer from the Palm Beach County 4H Club. Since all in-person camps are cancelled this year due to COVID-19, Palm Beach County 4-H is bringing camp to youth for FREE! The 4-H team is preparing kits with all the materials needed to complete 10 hands-on 4-H activities at home. Those interested MUST sign-up to pick up a kit. Each child can receive 1 kit of 10 projects.

McKinlay Memo: $60 Million Available to Restart Businesses in PBC 

From Commissioner Melissa McKinlay: The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approved the CARES Restart Business Grants Program on May 15, 2020 to accelerate the reopening of businesses hardest hit by COVID-19. The BCC has dedicated $50 million toward businesses with 25 or fewer employees and $10 million towards businesses with greater than 25 employees.
