Housing, Health & Human Services Update
State Legislators Fund Poulsbo Fire CARES Program. The 2022 State Supplemental operating budget includes $200,000 for the 2023 Poulsbo Fire CARES Program. The City of Poulsbo and Poulsbo Fire thank Representative Tara Simmons for advocating for our program, and increasing our ability to respond to behavioral health needs in the North Kitsap area. Fire CARES welcomes new Community Support Specialist Julie to the team in April. More information at https://cityofpoulsbo.com/poulsbo-fire-cares/

Calling Good Samaritans. Anyone interested in helping with a new initiative matching seniors with volunteers in the Poulsbo area? We'd like to see a "senior corps" established, in the next few months, to help our 65+ neighbors with companionship, transportation, and errands. Contact Kim at the City of Poulsbo’s Housing, Health and Human Services department to sign up or for more information via email to kimberlyh@cityofpoulsbo.com.

COVID Tests at Chambers. City ARPA funds have been used to purchase 600 COVID tests for local businesses and nonprofits. Pick up yours at the Chamber office at 19168 Jensen Way.
 
Reminder: Sign up for Nixle to receive important health (and other) notifications! The City of Poulsbo has partnered with Nixle to implement a notification system to alert residents in real-time about urgent and emergency situations. There are two simple ways to register: 1) Text POULSBO to 888777 from your mobile phone (or) 2) Go to https://cityofpoulsbo.com/community-alerts/ and sign up via the Nixle Widget. The service is secure, reliable, and easy to use.

Engineering and Building Departments Update.
Engineering Dept – Stormwater Management Manual Adoption. The Engineering Department began the process to adopt the Department of Ecology’s 2019 Stormwater Management Manual for Western Washington. For more information, see our website here.

Poulsbo Garden Club awarded grants to 6 local organizations, including Raab Park Youth Garden, Fishline, Gordon Elementary School and Poulsbo Historical Society for their gardening projects this spring. Just over $2,000 was awarded bringing the total amount granted since 2005 to just over $40,000.
 
Our annual plant sale will be on the second Saturday of May, May 14, from 9 am to 1 pm, at the Raab Park Pavilion on Caldart in Poulsbo. Many wonderful plants including annuals, perennials, bulbs, trees, bushes, veggie starts and more will be offered at amazing prices! Money raised from the sale is given back to the community as gardening grants.
