Vision 2025 and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District Team Up for Johnstown Flood Plain Study
Vision2025
Vision2025, in conjunction with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District and the Cambria County Emergency Management Agency, kicked off an interagency study designed to increase the understanding of the Johnstown flood plain on 11 December 2019.
The $130,000 project will help local and state officials make better informed decisions about flood-risk management, public safety, public and private investment, as well as redevelopment strategies.
“We are excited by the Corps’ ongoing commitment to Johnstown. Since 2016, they have invested approximately $4-million dollars in Johnstown’s infrastructure repairs, flood safety studies, and interagency collaboration” said Wally Burlack, Vision2025 coordinator.
Other partners on the project include PA Department of Environmental Protection, Johnstown Redevelopment Authority, and the City of Johnstown. The study is scheduled to be completed in November 2020.
