Medicare Open Enrollment 2020

Applicable to: Mercy Care RBHA and Mercy Care Long Term Care
It is that time of the year when Medicare eligible individuals enroll in their Medicare Part D program for the following year. Mercy Care SMI members, whether Title or Non-Title, who are Medicare Eligible but do not sign up for active Medicare Part D Coverage are at risk of not having prescription benefit coverage.  It is important that your Medicare eligible patients understand the importance of having Part D prescription drug coverage so they will have access to covered medications. Please explain and encourage your patients to enroll in a Medicare health plan with Part D coverage during the Medicare Open Enrollment Period.

  • Medicare's Open Enrollment Period: October 15 to December 7, 2020.
  • All members that are Medicare eligible MUST sign up for a Part D program during open enrollment for coverage to be effective January 1, 2020.
  • Per AHCCCS ACOM Policy 201: Mercy Care is ONLY responsible for the co-payments of the medications on the AHCCCS Behavioral Health Drug List.
  • If a Medicare eligible member does not enroll in Medicare Part D, Mercy Care will not pay for any prescriptions.
