SUMMER VISUAL ARTS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP
Calling Sophomores and Juniors! Apply now for Summer Visual Art Program Scholarship.
Montserrat College of Art, Pre-College Summer Program.
The Art Department of Wellesley High School, in collaboration with Montserrat College of Art and Wellesley Parents Supporting Art Students, announces an award opportunity for a full scholarship to the Montserrat College of Art Pre-College Summer program. This scholarship is valued at $3,500 and includes tuition, studio art courses, art supplies, field trips, and on-campus housing in Beverly, Massachusetts, for the college's three-week summer program from July 12-August 1, 2020.
The application is open to current sophomores and juniors at Wellesley High School.

PROVIDE INPUT ON THE TOWN OF WELLESLEY'S COMPLETE STREETS PROGRAM
Wellesley is participating in the Mass DOT Complete Streets Program.
Complete Streets (CS) are designed and operated to provide safety and accessibility for all users of our roadways, trails and transit systems. These include pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, motorists, commercial vehicles, emergency vehicles and individuals of all ages and abilities.
Complete Streets also provide important links between home, school, work, play and shopping areas through improved, more accessible walking, biking, and driving routes. Projects may be large-scale or more focused on specific transportation modes.
The Town is asking for input from residents to help us identify issues related to public street use and develop a list of priority projects. Residents can submit comments through
Wellesley's Complete Streets portal
(direct link is
http://arcg.is/1WTzHa). In late January, the Town will hold a public hearing to gather additional comments.

SCHOOL COMMITTEE OFFICE HOURS ...
The School Committee is pleased to continue its office hours which provide the community an opportunity for engagement with one or two members of the Committee on a monthly basis.
2020 Sessions are currently scheduled as follows:
January 16, 2020
, 9 to 10 am - Great Hall;
February 26, 7 to 8 pm, WHS Faculty Dining Room;
March 19, 9 to 10 am - Great Hall, Town Hall;
April 15, 7 to 8 pm, Wellesley Library, 2nd floor conference Room;
May 21, 9 to 10 am - Great Hall, Town Hall; and
June 17, 7 to 8 pm WHS Faculty Dining Room.

The Wellesley Cotillion --
Volunteers Needed
Members of the 2020 Cotillion Committee invite YOU to help at Cotillion this year. Cotillion Co-Chairs Linda Messore, Sarah Greene and Kate Yen are graciously crafting a memorable Cotillion 2020 experience to keep this long-standing tradition alive. Our collective goal is to continue the tradition of this elegant, formal dance while helping to ensure a safe night for all guests.
We invite interested Adults to help us prepare for this spectacular event and to support our 800 young adults as they arrive
en masse
at one of our two transportation sites: Wellesley High School or the The Boys and Girls Club-Blue Hills. Our guests will check-in, queue up for the luxury bus ride to Lombardo's, drop their coats and personal items at Coat Check, enjoy themselves at the event, and re-board buses for the return trip home. Many, many, capable hands are needed for this endeavor. A sense of humor, a willingness for adventure, and a positive attitude are a must.
Volunteers at Wellesley High School and the Boys and Girls Club-Blue Hills see the excitement at the beginning of the night - the expectation in faces, the buses loading-up and heading out, and then all of the tired but happy faces arriving back "home." Volunteers at Cotillion see the crowds on the dance floor, the lines and smiles at the photo booth, and the groups tucked away in various corners of the spectacular venue at Boston University.
Currently, our biggest need is for Bus Chaperones. Two adults ride on each of the 16 buses and accompany 50 Cotillion guests to/from Boston. Bus Chaperones escort students onto the bus at Wellesley High then off the bus and into the venue at the beginning of the evening. Bus Chaperones are free to enjoy a leisurely dinner out nearby or there will be a room/snacks for volunteers to relax at Lombardo's. Bus Chaperones will need to return to the venue by 10:00pm to escort students back onto the bus for the ride home. Chaperones are asked to wear black tops/black bottoms or similar elegant/casual attire - there is no need to stress about your outfit. Grab a friend or cajole your spouse into a night-out that you'll talk about for months & months! Please consider volunteering! These spots will fill up soon. Adults interested in volunteering can sign-up through the Cotillion's Sign-Up Genius.
Cotillion Organizers are hosting an important meeting for Cotillion Volunteers on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019 at 7pm in the Wellesley High Cafeteria. All volunteers are asked to attend this meeting to understand what your job entails and to learn how it critically dovetails with the work of other volunteers.

World of Wellesley is hosting a number of events in January --
- RACE: The Power of an Illusion, Community viewing and conversation of the three-part PBS documentary on Thursday, January 16, 23, 30 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Check out the preview or read. It is a must see! (Offered in partnership with the Wellesley Community Center.)
- MLK Community Breakfast 2020, Monday, January 20, 2020, 8:00 am - 10:00 am at
Alumnae Hall, Wellesley College.
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Family Event!, Monday, January 20, 2020, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
