Middle School World Language Wax Museum
Why simply learn about historical figures when you can become them? That's what 7th and 8th graders did for their final exam on Tuesday during the World Language Wax Museum. Students spent the past few weeks working on the project, which culminated with the Wax Museum in the Trianon. They dressed as French or Spanish historical figures, including war heroes, monarchs, French female activists, pioneers in science, literary Latinos, and 20th century artists. Other students approached them and either said hola or bonjour to learn more about their lives. Then students shared information while speaking in either Spanish or French.

First Grade Students Design and Create Math Games
First graders designed and created their own math games based on skills - addition, subtraction, fact families, and geometry - that they've learned in class. Some students collaborated with others, while others worked independently. The games included Mega Math Land, Forest Math, Dinosaur Math, Subtraction Army Game, Math Monopoly, and Doggy Math Game. Students shared their games with each other on Wednesday and took turns playing them.

Re-enroll between February 1-15 for Tuition Lock
The Colorado Springs School Board of Trustees has voted to continue the Tuition Lock program for a fourth year. The program allows current families that re-enroll between February 1-15 to avoid annual increases in tuition. This rewards our current families for their commitment to a CSS education, allows them to plan for the future, and is part of our strategic plan to bolster enrollment and retain mission-minded students and families. They presented their research findings Wednesday during The Colorado Springs School Health and Science Conference during a question-and-answer forum, which parents were invited to attend. Matchwits Team takes 1st place

Congratulations to the CSS Matchwits team after an incredible tournament this past week! Team members competing were Captain Matthew P. '20, Owen W. '21, Nathan G. '23, Aadi N. '21, Leo G. '20, Dane C. '21, Philipp W. '22, and Riki N. '22. The team came into the evening in a three-way tie for 2nd place and 10 points behind the first-place team, Fountain Valley School. That is a large gap to make up, but the Kodiaks came out with a mighty roar! They scored their all-time best round of the season, winning the first round with 20 points; FVS had 11 points and the Vanguard School had 8 (all matchups involve a three-team competition). With a second strong round, the Kodiaks passed FVS and is now in 1st place in the Black Forest League, with a one-point lead! Wish the Kodiaks good luck in January as they compete in the final competition of the reason, then begin to look toward regional and state competitions.
