Principal Message:
Thank you PTA! Enjoy a Safe and Fun Spring Break
Thank you so much to our PTA for bringing back the wonderful Cultural Fair Event. Students enjoyed an assembly Monday and toured booths through social studies on Wednesday. On Wednesday night the community came together to celebrate diversity and learn with each other. We want to thank you for a productive Spring and hope that you all enjoy a little break. If you need anything please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Rapid Tests Provided Friday for Spring Break: We will be providing rapid tests to all students to take home this Friday. We recommend you administer one test Friday, April 8th and take the second on Monday, April 11th. School resumes on Tuesday, April 12. If you do not want your child to take one home, please tell your child to share that with their 8th period teacher and you can pick them up from the office after school Friday. Staff will perform rapid tests before reporting back to school. Our district will not conduct Pool Testing after spring break, it will resume on April 19 at Borel. If you need additional tests you can go on April 8th to College Park Elementary from 12-7pm (to their multi-purpose room.) For additional help, view the instructional video for administering the tests.
If your child is showing COVID-19 symptoms, please, keep them home. Get them COVID tested as soon as possible.
The Big 5 Safety Plans: In the event there is an emergency at school, all schools in San Mateo County follow the Big 5 Protocols. Please see the protocols below and review them with your child. Each month we practice an emergency drill with our students.
Free SamTrans Extended for Students Please take short Survey: Borel is the only middle school who relies on Sam Trans to safely get hundreds of our students to and from school. This Spring we were given free passes and Sam Trans would like all families that were given a bus pass from January through June 2022 to participate in a survey that will help them determine if they will pilot this program for next school year. Please complete this short survey to help SamTrans determine whether to continue the program next school year. By filling out the survey, you can enter a drawing to win a $50 gift card or a skateboard deck. Additionally, Sam Trans has also decided to extend the free bus pass through August 31, 2022. Our children can ride the bus for an additional 2 months. No need for new passes, as the bus drivers know to accept the pass the students already have. Please note, if a child has been given a bus pass and loses it, we cannot replace it.

Borel Boosters 2021 -2022
We are getting closer to our goal of $140,000 for the year. As of 03/19, we are at 87%, coming in at $122,000. As always, we appreciate and acknowledge those who have already donated to the Borel Boosters. This is the only Borel fundraiser that supports the entire student body with funds going to those areas that help to Build a Brighter Future for every single Bobcat. Donate here and join the PTA. Every contribution big or small helps a lot. Questions, email Shirley at Boosters@borelbobcats.org.
