Helping people achieve their financial goals since 1991
Get Organized!
It's time to gather your tax documents, fill out our forms, and submit them all to us! If you need more info on how to securely send us sensitive documents, please read these TIPS.

INDIVIDUAL TAX ORGANIZERS are being sent out this week - depending on how you receive them, look for yours on the portal (after you get a notification), in your email inbox (password-protected), or in your mailbox next week! Remember that you must, at a minimum, fill out the attached Questionnaire as well as sign and return the Engagement Letter.

BUSINESSES have been sent Year-End Letters and Questionnaires - please return these to your Tax Manager as soon as possible.

FEE INCREASES: We will be raising our fee for filing Colorado Annual Reports from $30 to $40 this year. (Let us know if you prefer to file your own reports, but remember that the reinstatement fee is $100 if you forget to file.) We are also increasing our Service Charges from 12% to 18% per year on balances due over 60 days.

PORTAL USERS: For added security, passwords must be reset every 90 days, and a reCAPTCHA has been added to check when signing in as well as multi-factor authentication (MFA). If you have replaced your phone, email Justin for help in setting up the new phone with MFA.

Please visit our web page for Portal instructions and troubleshooting.

IRS Blues

We can only hope that the recommendations for improvement sent to the IRS by the Taxpayer Advocate Service, National Association of Tax Professionals, and other organizations will provide relief for taxpayers!

We are all frustrated by the IRS these days, even the IRS! Trying to deal with budget cuts, staff shortages, aging equipment, and a multitude of pandemic relief programs to administer, its challenges proved insurmountable in 2021:
  • Tax filing season closed with about 10 million returns in the Error Resolution System, each requiring manual processing
  • As of year-end, there was backlog of paper: 6 million individual income tax returns, over 2 million amended 1040s, and 2 million 940s and 5 million pieces of taxpayer correspondence
  • IRS reps were able to answer only about 11% of 282 million phone calls, leaving mistargeted notices and other issues unresolved
  • The Where's My Refund? tool didn't work for millions of taxpayers because of processing delays
