Meet Glasslined Technologies Director of Sales - Scott Batchelder Throughout his career Scott has worked in the capital equipment and process engineering sectors of semiconductor, LED and disc drive manufacturing operations. He also designed, developed and manufactured systems for the safe handling of spent nuclear fuels. Additionally he has been involved in the chemical processes associated with the high tech industries. Scott has enjoyed senior technical leadership roles and all aspects of sales throughout his entire career. In doing so, he founded AER, Incorporated; a successful equipment, design, and engineering company, which was acquired by a large chemical company in 2001. Throughout the past 40 years, Scott has won both engineering solution and sales awards from such companies as Motorola and Ashland Specialty Chemical. He is a medaled veteran of the US Navy.

No Red M&M's for Halloween? It's that time of year for Halloween candy production. Manufacturers use glass lined reactors to maintain product purity while producing food colorants. One such plant called GTI after finding contamination with no apparent cause. Our team was on site the next day.  Technicians used a coating thickness gauge to take non-destructive measurements, conduct statistical analysis and map the glass thickness. Spark testing uncovered a damaged area on the bottom head which was repaired with a 3" tantalum repair plug. Service work performed in the FDA approved facility adhered to the No Contamination Policy. Our technicians wore special clothing including hairnets and worked with tools that had been cleaned and approved for service in this vessel. The repair was completed within a few hours and the reactor was back in service making the color red.

Kombucha tea is a fermented drink made with tea, sugar, bacteria and yeast. Although it’s sometimes referred to as kombucha mushroom tea, kombucha is not a mushroom — it’s a colony of bacteria and yeast. Kombucha tea is made by adding the colony to sugar and tea, and allowing the mix to ferment. The resulting liquid contains vinegar, B vitamins and a number of other chemical compounds. “ The production requires a non-porous, non-ferrous material that will not interfere with the fermentation process or leaching of metal or plastic into the tea. “We chose to use glasslined tanks for our fermenters to insure the safety and purity of our product. It took me months to locate a dealer for a storage tank until I found Glasslined Technologies and was able to arrange a tank to my specification in a timely manner and at a very competitive price. ” says Trenton Kaminski, President and Founder of Kombucha Tea Company.

About Our President

James has been working in the petrochemical, nuclear, chemical, plastics, biofuels, and pharma industries since 1980. During the 34 yrs in this industry James built his business solving difficult solutions in failure analysis and repair of glasslined equipment. This philosophy has grown a small home based consulting business to a company with 11 employees in a 50,000 sq.ft. facility containing warehousing, production, offices, and research capabilities with 15 acres of outside storage.
