My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. - Jesus
John 10:27-28

“Dad, is this meat any good?” My son asked me while walking towards me with a package. His nose was scrunched up and his hands were holding a grocery store package of meat. By his facial expressions, I figured he already knew the answer, but I grabbed the package and looked at the expiration date anyway. Three weeks ago. Guess what I did next? You guessed it, I had to smell it. Why do we do that? The smell was disgusting and so was my reaction. “No! Throw it away!”

We all have an expiration date too- well, a temporary one. Only God knows when our hearts will tick one last time. But Jesus says it doesn’t end there. He gives a wonderful promise, no expiration date! Jesus said, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.” No expiration date! What a joy it is knowing that our last breath is not our last moment. All who believe in Jesus will be saved, He promised.

Next time you go grocery shopping glance at the expiration date and remember that your expiration date was erased on the cross.

See you Sunday as we celebrate Jesus who gives us life eternal. I can’t wait!

Aracely and Kat recently welcomed their beautiful daughter, Aralyn into the world! To help show our love and support, a meal chain has been set up to help them out on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Click the link to sign up to make and take them a meal if it is on your heart!

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
