Community Spotlight:
Metro Toledo ranked No. 1 for environmental sustainability
Toledo, Ohio, was named by Site Selection Magazine as #1 in environmental sustainability, beating out Grand Rapids, MI, and Cincinnati. Other metro regions in the running included Des Moines, Boston, Lansing, MI, Dallas, Indianapolis, Chicago, and Greenville, SC.

Toledo has focused on bringing new people, specifically young individuals and millenials, into their communities and building up their economy. Their ongoing sustainability efforts have shown that they know the importance of having an environmentally responsive city that invests in the quality of life for those that reside there.

"The Toledo region has abundant natural features that set us apart," Commissioner Gary Byers said. "The fact that Site Selection has recognized our efforts to showcase and protect these assets while also being strongly focused on economic growth is extremely gratifying and is a testament to the cooperation that has brought us to this moment."

General Motors commits $25 million to promote equity in EV transition
General Motors Co. is creating a $25 million Climate Equity Fund that will focus on closing equity gaps, or disparities, as the auto industry transitions to electric and emissions-free vehicles, CEO Mary Barra announced Tuesday.

Barra discussed the initiative during the Aspen Ideas Festival, saying it responds to "the need for equity considerations as the industry accelerates toward an all-electric future."

"Climate change does not impact every community equally," she said. "As we move to an all-electric, zero-emissions future, it is on us to lead positive change and implement inclusive solutions that bring everyone along, especially our employees and communities."
