Help Wanted
Salon Beautician!

Fox Valley Lutheran Homes is seeking a licensed beautician for our Linwood Place Salon. Our “in-house” salon allows our tenants (age 62 and over) who no longer drive and/or find it difficult to find transportation to have their hair care done on site. If you or someone you know would like to be our barber/beautician, please contact Executive Director Lynn Ann at lynnann.fvlhomes@gmail.com. Rent and options for outside client use of the salon are all negotiable.
Remembering Our Blessings

All of us at Linwood Place have been blessed with good health during this trying time. While we have not been able to gather socially for worship, games, exercise etc, we have been blessed with good weather and a beautiful park across the street in order to enjoy the outdoors. Our newsletters is usually filled with images of our tenants enjoying social activities. Since organized activities are on hold due to the need to social distance, we thought it would be appropriate to use this edition to feature some special supporters that bless our community.

Thank You To Prince Of Peace Church
For Your Support

The Ministry of Fox Valley Lutheran Homes is able to continue to serve our tenants because of generous supporters. Special thanks to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Appleton for the recent gift from their Mission Endowment Outreach Fund. This donation was designated to support our onsite Care Coordinator as she ministers to our tenant's well being. Her goal is to support our tenants and their families in finding ways for to live safely and independently. Our Care Coordinator, Cheryl Mahloch provides staff and tenants with education, community resources and support as we all adjust to social distancing during COVID-19.
Trinity Lutheran Church Provides Funds for Tenant Safety Modifications

One of our goals is to modify our apartments to make it easier for our tenants to remain living independently. We recently had a tenant return to his apartment after spending time in a rehabilitation facility recovering from a fall. He was able to return to his apartment because a "tub cut" was installed making it safer for him to access his shower. The Trinity Foundation has provided us with financial support to modify bathtubs with a side cut for ease of entry and to replace our commodes with "comfort" height features. These modifications will take place as tenant needs arise.

Bright Ideas Grant through the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region

We received a multi year grant through the Community Foundation to hire a part-time administrative assistant. The administrative assistant provides support for the daily running of our office and allows our Executive Director to devote more time to outreach, education and fundraising for our ministry. We are grateful for this financial support. Our Executive Director Lynn Ann, has been able to collaborate with other older adult service providers, faith based communities and other non-profit organizations because of this financial support.
Appleton Conference Support

Fox Valley Lutheran Homes was founded by the 18 congregations of the Appleton Conference of the East Central Synod of the ELCA. The Appleton Conference continues to support us with funding. We recently received a gift from the conference that allows us to offer additional programs and services to our tenants including flu shot clinics, exercise classes, and educational series about diabetes, fall prevention and more. The physical and mental wellness of our tenants is dependent on these type of programs and we are thankful for the support of the Appleton Conference!
Gifts of Benevolence

Benevolence: noun. desire to do good to others; goodwill; charitableness.

Our ministry continues to be blessed with gifts of benevolence from our conference congregations. Thanks to Grace Lutheran, First English and Trinity in Appleton, Christ the King in Sherwood and Gloria Dei in Neenah for their ongoing financial support of our ministry.
Thank You for
Remembering US!

Our thank you's would be incomplete if we failed to mention the many volunteers, designated project and in kind gifts that make Linwood Place more that just a place to live. Recent gifts include landscape mulch for our grounds, handmade face masks, books, puzzles, games and coffee. Volunteers have supported us by making phone calls, writing letters and cards of encouragement to our tenants, helping sanitize and keep our building clean, grocery shopping and running errands for our tenants, cutting our grass, spreading donated landscape mulch and painting our patio railings. Each one of you are blessings to us from God.
