Weekly enews
Dear St. Giles Families,

This is a very exciting week at St. Giles! Lion's Leap has been our primary fundraiser for over 30 years and this is the WEEK! Families, homeroom teachers, and Kelly Richard have worked so hard building enthusiasm and bringing excitement each day that we are ready for our FUN RUNS this week. While we won't be able to have the spectators as we have in the past, we will cheer our in-person and remote runners/walkers on from afar. We aren't finished yet, be sure to continue to share out the links for donations throughout this week!

It is hard to believe we are moving into October this week. This will mean cooler weather but we will continue to be outside to provide mask breaks for as long as we can. Please make sure your Lions have appropriate coats and sweaters as we move into fall weather and continue more outside activities. We've been blessed thus far, let's hope that continues.

Stay well and have a great week!
Meg

Reminders
Please remain in your cars in the drop off/pick up lines. If you need to get out of the car to let out your child, please do it quickly to keep the traffic line moving. We are looking for additional volunteers to help open doors in the morning and afternoon for K-2nd grades. See below if you are able to help!

Volunteers for Drop off/Pick Up Needed
Are you available in the morning or afternoon to assist with drop off and pick up? We are looking for parents to help us with our morning and afternoon protocols getting our Lions in and out safely. Please sign up here if you are available.
The FINAL Push!
Let's Meet Our $90,000 Goal This Week!

Hopefully you have been getting our special Lion's Leap emails with all of the daily prizes and details.

Any questions about this FUNdraiser? Email Kelly.

By tomorrow, we hope 100% of our students are registered on FUNRUN.com.
Congrats to Ms. Brittany Byrne for our first Lion's Leap door decorating contest with her amazing drawing skills! 2nd and 3rd place went to Mrs. Lucas and Mrs. Magaña. Thanks to all our teachers for working so hard - all doors were very creative.

Do you work for a company that has matching donations? NEW this year, when you donate on funrun.com, it will prompt you to search by employer's name and DOUBLE your donation to St. Giles School!
Try a different parenting approach this week. Oak Park psychotherapist, Marsha Heineman Pieper of Smart Love advocates for letting your child figure out working at home by themselves. Let your child work on their own on homework or remote learning. Let your child experience failure in the learning process. Encourage your child to seek out online resources like Khan academy or asking Alexa or completing a google search. Encourage your child to email teachers asking for help or giving an update on work status when things are late. When you look at PowerSchool, instead of asking your child where the missing assignments are and why they are not completed, try starting by telling them you saw effort in the work your child has completed. Check out this ABC7 news article for more parenting tips. Or read expert opinions on how failing is part of the learning process.
