Keeping Us Connected Newsletter
December 4, 2020
He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth.
--Luke 1:14
Dear Saint Mary Friends,

Even in the midst of COVID there are many items to mention in this Newsletter: some regarding Masses and sacraments, and others regarding various activities going on this Advent. Most importantly, you will find the Christmas Mass schedule and information on other Masses. Also, we include something on a Catholic moral approach to the COVID vaccines that are coming on line soon.

Morality of the COVID Vaccines
Many parishioners have asked me about the connection between the newly produced vaccines and the use of fetal stem cells from abortions used in their development. Please take the time to read these two very good articles on the subject.

Christmas Mass Registration Opens Monday @ 6 pm
Registration for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses will open this coming Monday, December 7 at 6:00 PM. There will be seven Masses offered including a Mass at Midnight in the Hall. Please note that the schedule may change depending on the signup. In other words, if only 5 people sign up for a Mass, we would ask them to attend at another time. See the schedule HERE

Other Mass Reminders
Remember also these two previously announced changes to our Mass schedule
  • New First Saturday Mass begins December 5 at 8 AM in Parish Hall
  • Saturday 4:30 Vigil Mass is now in the Hall
  • 11:00 AM Sunday Mass in the Hall (This is now the live streamed Mass)

Advent Talks by the Dominicans
Some parishioners may find these offerings to be a good Advent listen. They’re offered by by the Dominicans at the Thomistic Institute in Washington DC.
Parish Financial Update
As you can imagine, in these last 9 months parish finances are suffering just as many families and business finances are. I ask those parishioners who can offer increased support to the parish offertory, to please do so, and offer a big thank you to those who have already done so. Also, signing up for online giving provides a regular and reliable way to give. You can access the current financial update here: letter graphs

Catholic Action Coat Drive and Turkey Drive Thank You
Sincere thanks to all who donated coats to our Coat Drive. We distributed over 85 coats to the children in the First Communion and Confirmation programs at St. Peters. Also, from our Turkey Drive last year, we were able to donate $1000 for Thanksgiving turkeys and food baskets for needy families.
Christmas Food Drive
Our Catholic Action Christmas Food Drive begins December 10. Info is below. Volunteers needed to drive donations to Catholic Charities on Main Street in Danbury. Contact Mary Staudt mtstaudt@gmail.com for more information.
